![]() Red Shirts in Pattaya
During Saturday a few thousands Red Shirts gathered with Jatuporn Prompan and Thida Tavornset, their leaders, in Pattaya.
The event started with carvinal-like parade through our City and ended with the release of about 2'000 black balloons in memory of Thailand's independent bodies, who have an undemocratic attitude.
The Country of Rapes
Thailand's Public Health Ministry claims there were 31'866 rape cases last year. That means that every single day 87 women or girls are raped, a victim every 15 minutes...
Most victims were university students and school pupils, exploited by people who they were close to and trusted.
Fire Alarm
at Apex Hotel Today, shortly after midnight a room at the fifth floor of the Apex Hotel blazed up and attracted a large crowd of revellers as well as Pattaya's Police and the City's Firebrigade.
The Firebrigade did a professional job and got control of the fire within a few minutes.
Nevertheless a large cloud of black smoke enclosed parts of the popular Hotel near the entry to Soi Diana.
The Police had to stop and to redirect the traffic on 2nd Road from South Road until CentralFestival.
The cause of the blaze?
'Seems to be same as usual' (a short-circuit), a Firefighter told me.
Book your next flight at 7-Eleven
Since yesterday all 7'800 7-Eleven outlets as well as all 1'500 Counter Service Co (CS) bill payment sites in Thailand are accepting bookings and payments for all AirAsia flights originating from Thailand both for domestic and international routes.
Stupid Tourists?
In the light of using stolen passports by asylium seekers bording the disappeared Malaysian Airlines flight 370 a professional commentator from Bangkok Post told his readers that Police (?) believe that many tourists actually sell their passports, and fraudulently report they lost them.
This disgusting statement shows again that Thais never admit on their own shortcomings.
We don't know if our Police is really that way stupid, or if the statement is fabricated by Bangkok Post's commentator.
It is a fact that the Passports used in this instance were stolen by or from car rental agencies.
Health Threat
Air quality measurements in Chiang Mai are well above any 'healthy' spectrum for three consecutive days.
The primary cause of the problem is that more than 3'500 rai of land had been damaged by forest fires in the province.
As every year these fires are responsible for the haze across the North of the country.
Today's Planes fly with last Century's Technology
Your telephone company fellows you at every single turn and so do NSA and GCHQ as well as our Police.
With installing corresponding applications on smartphones you can fellow your girlfriend and/or your evil.
If your parents spend their holidays on a cruiser you can follow them on your smartphone and you can control your shipments from the factories until they arrive at your door.
Only aircraft are supervised by last century's technology.
As shown in the last incident, the radar can be underflown or easely lose the contact to an observed object.
It would be an easy task to supervise every single plane with todays satellite technology.
The carriers don't do it.
They prefer to transport you in antiqued planes.
The flight controllers' organisations fear to lose their exclusivity by using the latest technologies.
The disappeared Malaysia Airlines plane shows the consequences.
Stupid check-in
If you check-in at airports officials check your passport and your baggage.
At some airports they confiscate even the smallest knives and forks, every kind of liquid and all the cigarette lighters they can get.
But do they check the real thing?
Interpol has a database showing 39 million records of stolen travel documents.
One billion passengers a year board international flights, but there's no inquiry made of that database...
The airports do not prevent criminals doing their job, the officials are harassing ordinary travellers.
Airports are protecting the wrong people.
![]() New Problems for Boeing's Dreamliner
Japan Airlines (JAL) reports new problems with one of its Dreamliners:
The pilot of flight JL002 from Tokyo to San Francisco decided to divert the plane to Hawaii after a warning
message about falling pressure of lubricant oil in its right engine.
Since its introduction two years ago Boeing's 787 Dreamliner has suffered a series of problems.
For many passengers the plane is a real nightmare.
Mental disorder
About a fifth of the Thai population have at some time or the other suffered from mental problems Thailand's Public Health Ministry revealed.
The number of these patients is expected to rise as city lifestyle is expanding, the report says.
Perhaps this is the logical explanation for all that crazy actions from Suthep Thaugsuban and his obviously sik demonstrators...
Police seized 600kg of Marijuana
Border Patrol Police discovered 16 sacks containing a total of 600 slabs of compressed and dried marijuana on a bank of the Mekong River in Nong Khai Province. The sacks were covered with branches and grass.
Rumours have it that at least a part of the anti-government protests are financed with illegal drugs.
Suthep money collecting scheme provides an easy way to whitewash the money, the rumours say.
Remember
Thailand's undemocratic Democrat Party, the gamete of Thailand's unrest, opened a Pattaya headquarter in Soi Town-in-Town Hotel, off Pattaya Central Road (just a few meters from Foodland).
The party is the home of Suthep Thaugsuban, Thailand's trouble maker #1, the self-appointed secretary-general of the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) and one of the country's most corrupt politicians.
Abhisit Vejjajiva, a former Prime Minister and the actual head of the party, chaired the opening ceremony.
Abhisit studied in England, but apparently forget everything he once learned in England.
Thailand's Democrat Party enjoys the support of Bangkok's Elite and the top brass of Thailand's Military.
![]() ![]() Police website hacked
The website of the Royal Thai Police has been hacked.
This morning, at about 08:00 the website showed the above screen.
It told its visitors f*** the Police.
At around 09:10 the operator restored the service.
Don't touch Pattaya's Police!
Bangkok's Metropolitan Police Bureau chief Khamronwit Thoopkrajang transfered the chief of Sutthisan police station and his deputy, Pol Lt Col Attapon Inthayopasakul, to an inactive post after a man was shot dead outside a pub that was open beyond the legal closing time in Bangkok's Ratchadaphisek area.
Please do not apply the very same orders with Pattaya's Police - or we will be without any acting Policeman within a few weeks only...
Mike Shopping Mall raided
Yesterday Region 2 Police as well as Pattaya Police raided South Pattaya's Mike Shopping Mall again and arrested 14 vendors and seized over 5'000 fake branded clothing items worth over 2 Million Baht.
Since many years the Shopping Mall is a well-known location for purchasing fake branded items. It has been the subject of many raids over the last few years.
The Police confirmed that this raid will not be their last. Police said they look to eradicate the trade of such items in Pattaya 'completely'.
As long as the Police arrest the vendors only and not the 'people in the dark' of the copycat business the Police's efforts remain the work of some fumblers.

![]() In our News Flash from January 2014 we announced that Pattaya's Walking Street Committee is considering to rename Pattaya's famous Walking Street. After heavy international protests the Committee decided to burn the idea and to cancel a city wide party on April 1st, 2014, to introduce the new name.
Walking Street's Ice Bar agreed to remove the new name from is sign. It replaced Waliking Street by the widely accepted Walking Street name.

The Royal Thai Air Force awarded an honorary skydiver certificate to Nasser Yeehma, the chief guard of an anti-government group.
After Mr Nasser posted a picture on his Facebook page of himself holding the certificate and saying he got it in recognition of his fight for the country, Air Marshal Vorachat Tharechat, commander of RTAF Security Forces Command, was obligated to clarify the procedures of the awarding.
Air force spokesman AM Monthon Sutchukorn explained that anyone with the proper qualifications could file a request with the Security Forces Command's parachute department and pay 700 baht to receive the certificate and the emblem without having to take part in real parachute traning.

On March 25th, 2014, a new building of the Chakri Naruebodindra Medical Centre in Samut Prakan partially collapsed during construction and killed at least 10 workers and injured 16 others.
A day later EIT 'experts' examined the site and concluded that the design of the medical centre met proper standards as its constructor and its construction supervisor were from reputable companies.
We suppose that a bad ghost was responsible for the incident. Perhaps the management didn't spend enough of Whiskey - or provided the wrong brand...

Android accounted for 121 million units, or 62% of the total volume; iOS 70.4 million units (around 36%); and Microsoft 4.03 million units (2%).

Next Generation's high-end Smartphones come from China
Our source in China reports that China-based handset vendors, Vivo and Oppo among others, are rolling out smartphones with 2560 x 1440 (QHD) pixel displays and 50-megapixel cameras.
No Marriage
Our source in China reports that Huawei as well as Asus cancelled their plans to produce dual-OS Smartphones, phones running Windows and Android concurrently.
Both companies didn't give a reason for the killing of their projects, but insider claims that neither Google nor Microsoft were happy with the announcements of Android-Windows Phone hybrid Smartphones.
But in a meaningful statement Huawei said as long as the consumers continue to demand Windows, we will continue to supply them.
Let's wait and see what will happen to the dual-OS models announced by Indian based Karbonn.
Windows WARNING
Since today Microsoft is warning you on your PC that it will stop support Windows XP from April 8th, 2014.
It's time to leave Windows and to install LINUX!
It's an easy job:
Download LinuxLive USB Creator.
With LinuxLive you can download a lot of different Linux versions, test them on an USB-stick and choose the one that fits your needs best.
Android & Windows on one phone
Huawei announces that it will launch a Dual-OS Android-Windows Smartphone in the US in the second quarter of this year.
If it is Windows only, maybe people will not find it as easy a decision to buy the phone. If they have the Android and Windows together, you can change it as you wish and it is much easier for people to choose Windows Phone, a spokesman from Huawei told the press.
Indian based Karbonn already announced a few days ago that it will produce Dual-OS Smartphones supporting WP8 and Android.
Cheap(er) Full-Frame Cameras will hit the Shelves
It is estimated the consumer digital camera unit sales dropped as much as 35-40% in 2013.
Many consumers seem to be happy with the quality of pictures they get from their mobil phones.
To compensate the drop, digital camera brand vendors are preparing cheap(er) entry-level full-frame DSLR cameras.
The new cameras will hit the shelves during this year.
Let's hope that at least one manufacturer will launch a full-frame 'compact camera' similar to the Nikon COOLPIX A, but at a reasonable price.
The COOLPIX A is a excellent camera, but its price is completely overcalculated.
Full-frame cameras provides a much larger sensor and therefore (theoretically) a wider dynamic range and lower noise at high ISO levels.
As a consequence, full-frame cameras may produce better quality images in certain high contrast or low light situations.
Windows based Phones get cheaper
Our source in China reports that Microsoft has lowered the hardware specifications and licensing conditions for handset makers who are willing to launch WP8-based smartphones.
Hardware makers are allowed to roll out WP8-phones supporting dual-SIM, TD-LTE, higher memory capacity as well as adding software interfaces of their own.
To shorten time to market, Microsoft has teamed up with Qualcomm. Together they are launching reference designs for WP8 phones.
Huawei, ZTE, Lenovo, Gionee, Lava, Karbonn, HTC, Samsung Electronics, Compal Communications and Nokia are working with Microsoft under the new scheme.
Indian based Karbonn will produce Dual-OS models supporting WP8 and Android.
Apple replaces 13-inch MacBooks
Apple will end production of the 13-inch MacBook Pro in the second half of 2014. The product line will be replaced with thinner models equipped with a Retina display.
Market leaders
2014 79% of all smartphones will run on Android. Apple will have a market share of slightly less than 15%.
Windows, Firefox and Tizen will take the remaining cake.
But wait until the end of the year: We predict that Firefox will outstrip Apple...
US$25 Smartphones
Spreadtrum Communications, China's leading mobile chip supplier, and Mozilla, Firefox's OS designer just presented their all new US$25 turnkey solution.
The Spreadtrum's turnkey solution incorporates literally every piece of software and hardware necessary to build a finished handset very quickly, including all the chips, boards, and the display.
A number of Chinese handset ODMs are expected to start flooding the markets this year with Firefox OS-based entry-level smartphones.
FireFox OS has less processing and memory requirements, since the OS and the services live mostly in the cloud. For example, most of the apps written for Firefox OS are written in HTML5 and can be run within a mobile browser.
Firefox OS-based smartphone needs just half the memory of other smartphone.
With Spreadtrum's chipset handset makers will be able to produce smartphones with 3.5-inch HVGA touchscreens and integrated WiFi, Bluetooth, FM as well as camera functions.
Nokia launched Android-based mobile handsets
Nokia presented its all new Nokia X, Nokia X+, and Nokia XL smartphones.
They run on a special version of Google's Android operating system, a Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core processor and will be sold between US$122 and US$150.
The Nokia X features a four-inch IPS capacitive display, a three-megapixel camera, 512MB RAM and supports Dual SIM.
The Nokia X+ offers the same features but comes with 712MB RAM.
Nokia XL comes with a five-inch display, a two-megapixel front-facing camera and a five-megapixel rear-facing, autofocus camera with flash.
