The Pattaya International Music Festival happened from March 22nd to March 24th 2013. The festival was a crippled version of the former events. We missed the former main stage on Bali Hai Pier, the not very successfull stage in front of Royal Garden Plaza and the popular booth from the Thai DJ Community.

The main sponsor of the event was ThaiBev, the distributor of Chang Beer and the new est softdrinks. Therefore whole the Walking Street was in the hands of ThaiBev. You couldn't get a Singha, a Heineken, a Carlsberg or any other Beer. With softdrinks the same picture, there was one brand only - est. No Mirinda or Pepsi, no Fanta, nevertheless some vendors hat the nerve to sell Coke...

Thanks to the organization and communication skills of the two Kunplome brothers*, the popular event was first announced for March 15 -17, 2013. The event was later postponed to March 22 - 24, 2013. You even could find additional dates for the event on the internet: March 18 - 20 as well as March 3 - 31, 2013. On March 14th, during a meeting, an official from our clever City Hall announced the festival as a 2-day event! Clever officials too produced banners to inform the public that Pattaya's Beach Road will be closed for traffic on March 22nd, 23rd and 24th. One banner said the street will be closed from 14:00 until 02:00, the second banner told the closure will start at 16:00 and end at 02:00... On March 23rd Pattaya People, a publication with very good connections to our City Hall, reported that there will be concerts on a stage at Bali Hai too! Pattaya People even broadcasted the hoax through its cable TV channel... The communication skills of our officials can hardly be beaten. * Itthiphol Kunplome is the Mayor of Pattaya, Wittaya Khunplome the head of the Chonburi Administration Organisation.
