Despite the lofty name U-Tapao Rayong Pattaya International Airport, the airport, which is still administered by the Royal Thai Navy in Sattahip, offers very limited connections to Pattaya and other destinations such as Rayong. Passengers have to make do with taxis or organise their own travel. It is therefore not surprising that the almost unrivaled cab drivers take advantage of this in their own way and charge, for example, up to 850 baht (and more) for the 35 km trip to Pattaya ....

Originally this event was announced as a four-day extravaganza to be held on Pattaya Beach from June 14th to 17th, 2023. But the latest announcements from the Pattaya City Hall state that Movie on the Beach will only be a two-day event on June 16th and 17th. Drink your tea and wait to see what happens: Maybe the event will even be cancelled ....

Every few months, the police remind business owners that reserving parts of public roads as private parking is against both traffic law and the "Act on the Maintenance of the Cleanliness and Orderliness of the Country BE2535 (1992)". Incidentally, the same applies to the use of public parking spaces as business premises, e.g. for motorbike rental. Although our law enforcement officers drive through the affected streets several times a day, they turn a blind eye to the violations. A huge new food market - known as Yai Mak Market or Talat Yai Mak - opened last April on the busy but increasingly family-friendly Jomtien Beach Road. The area offers plenty of cosy seating to eat the food you just bought in peace. The long vacant area is located between the popular Soi Welcome and the NOW Hotel and is expected to become a strong competitor to the still popular Jomtien Night Market.

L'Aroma Café and Restaurant is a unique dining destination on Jomtien Beach Road. The new venue had its soft opening on April 8th, 2023.

Ramen Ozawa, known from Central Road in Pattaya, now also has a branch on Beach Road in Jomtien, right next to the no less famous Ice Queen.

Huo Yan, the internationally renowned operator of Chinese hot pot restaurants, has opened his latest Yan Hot Pot venue on Beach Road in Jomtien.

The vacant premises on Jomtien's Thappraya Road, formerly known as the Flying Dolphins and later as TOR's Food & Drink, has seen the emergence in recent weeks of Lone Star's Saloon, an entertainment venue to rival its already well-known neighbours such as the Country Club, Country Road III and Escobar.

A new food market is being built on the previously unused site in front of Chonburi Area Revenue Office 3. Apparently, it has been recognised that government employees also like to eat varied but inexpensive food.

On Thappraya Road, just behind the Machanu statue, Ning Ning opened a Bar & Restaurant between the well-known The Pantry Expat Food Shop and Anna's Pectopan Café & Restaurant.

Despite the still precarious road conditions, the Chicken Mortar on Thepprasit Road is well attended night after night. The reason for this is probably its excellent somtum.

Several new clinics have opened in Naklua in recent months, including Pulse Clinic, which has taken over the vacant premises of the former (and not very successful) Kiss Food & Drink restaurant - whose predecessor was the popular Anton - on Naklua Road.

Another clinic that supports the current trend is the just-opened SEA Clinic, also located on busy Naklua Road. The house, which has been empty for a long time, has been completely renovated in recent months and adapted to the needs of the new owner.

Just to the right of Susi Bar on Naklua Road - or opposite Barracuda Bar - Jod Mars has opened a cannabis café on May 8th in addition to its Jod Mars restaurant near the Naklua roundabout.

A buffet restaurant with the (translatet) name Cut It opened in a side street at the entrance to the Pattaya highway in North Pattaya (along Motorway Route 7, at the entrance to Soi Muang Pattaya School 11). The restaurant offers a wide range of dishes that you can prepare yourself. However, the menu is mainly geared towards Thai customers. Open everyday Monday-Sunday from 16:00 to 23:00. For non-Thais, we still recommend the Buffet on North Road, directly opposite the famous bus station.

Aozora is a new and very cozy Spa & Coffee Bar in Soi 12, off Pattaya Beach Road. The completely newly built venue replaces a former laundry and a small house that had been unused in the past.

Another Thai Pub is to be built on a long-vacant site on Pattaya 3rd Road, directly opposite the new Ying Club.

All bars on Beach Road between Soi 8 and Pattaya Police Station are closed for renovation.

The completely failed Bling Disco at the entrance of Soi Buakhao to Soi Chaiyapoon was replaced by a JUJU Nightclub.

The venue first known as Churchill Bar and later as Churchill's Munchies Expat Food got a new name and owner: 101 Bar.

After a complete renovation, The Black Minou Bar opened its new premises on May 8th with a party in the former Nanny Bar premises, directly opposite the successful Candy Club.

The Bamboo Bar, located between the Climax and Mayfair bars, has been closed.

Vice City, a bar opposite the Sugar Sugar A Go-Go Club, has been closed.

The Britannia Lounge, about 100 metres from the popular market in Soi Buakhao in South Pattaya, has been closed.

On May 12th, Dynamite Entertainment closed the A Go-Go & Coyote bar they operated at the Soi Buakhao / Soi 15 intersection for good. The venue received its customers only for a short period of time: It opened at the end of October 2022.

Cockpit Club A Go-Go, a gentelmen's club with an integrated A Go-Go lounge in 3rd Road's Soi 21 has been closed for a few weeks now. The venue opened sometime during January 2023.

With hundreds of lovely ladies all eager to make your stay as pleasant as possible, Soi 6 is certainly worth a visit even without daily news.

The Panda (A Go-Go) Bar, which was recently up for sale, has found a new owner who is dropping the A Go-Go name and giving the bar a fresh new look.

To the right of the former Tony's Entertainment Complex, Monkey Bar has opened in the space formerly occupied by White Bar. Like most new bars, this one is also licensed as a restaurant.

The Nashaa Club, which was rebuilt after last year's fire, will probably need some more time before it can resume operations. However, its new façade indicates that all the gold sequins from the failled Bing Club have been transported from Soi Buakhao to Walking Street ....

After the Songkran festival, the Marine Disco has also reopened, but with a broken neon sign, a malfunctioning escalator and a lack of crowds. Update: In the meantime, the escalator is working properly again.

Coke A Go-Go replaces the defunct Hilton Club on Soi Diamond (off Walking Street).

Nang Nual, the famous seafood restaurant on Walking Street, has downsized again. Where sea creatures used to swim around, there is now a bar with live music.

A new venue called Club 79 is being built on the premises of Abbe's Bar, which has been closed since November 2016.

The last of the clubs presenting Russian beauties, Crazy Russian Girls, reopened its doors at the beginning of May.
