Illegal or not?
According to the AirBnB's list of the world's most popular travel destinations, Bangkok is in fifth place, The Nation Thailand and some other media report.
There is nothing at all illegal about using Airbnb or other booking channels (such as booking.com, Expedia, Tripadvisor) in Thailand. As long as you follow the rules that apply to your property, you can use any of these booking channels to attract guests, according to SabaiManagement.com.
To keep it simple, yes it’s illegal to Airbnb properties in Thailand. Property owners also known as Airbnb “Hosts”, can be prosecuted if they rent their properties on a nightly or weekly basis writes Freshbangkok.com a property firm known as FresProperty.
But as was to be expected in this funny country, both statements are correct and allow the security authorities a generous interpretation of the case in question. Read, the regulations are designed to open the door to corruption. For more on this, please read the following reports from Khaosod ENGLISH:

For this reason, Thai sex workers and supporting organisations are calling for the legalisation of the sex trade in a petition.

Don’t mock the afflicted!
Wang Yang, a village in Nakhom Phanong district, became a victim of Chinese crooks. The greed of an entire village enabled the Chinese mafia to open illegal bank accounts. Many villagers are now living in fear, facing up to three years in prison or at least a fine of up to 300,000 baht, or both - all for greedily selling their personal data to the crooks for 400 baht.

Corruption still on the rise
Manapol Poosomboon, vice-chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), said corruption in Thailand is still a big problem. It is also on the rise and expanding.
