On March 18th, 2022, the Thai cabinet extended the state of emergency nationwide by two months until May 31st, 2022, ostensibly to deal with the local Covid 19 situation.
The extionsion was proposed by the National Security Council (NSC).
The NSC functions as the operations unit of the government's Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration and is supervised by Thailand's Prime Minister, Dictator, Songwriter and the man of many words Prayut Chan-o-cha.
This is the 17th extension of the special law.
The government insistes that the extension is necessary to facilitate the swift and integrated implementation of measures to control Covid-19 for the sake of public safety.
This special law was enacted March 26th, 2020, and gives Prayut Chan-o-cha wide-ranging powers, including a ban on large gatherings to prevent anti-government protests.

New Restaurant
On Thappraya Road, between Soi 10 and Soi 12, Seeland Brewery has opened its large 5-storey restaurant. The management claims to offer a very wide range of beers from all over the world.
At the time of writing google map shows two locations of Seeland Brewery on Thappraya Road. The location at Gian's Italian Restaurant is definitely wrong.

Grand opening
Cheap Charlie's management says it will open its new restaurant in Soi 5 on May 3rd. The restaurant replaces the abandoned Ballermann. The venue opens daily from 07:00 until 23:00.

Finaly opened
The long-heralded Honda CUB House opened last month on Sukhumvit Road at the entrance to Soi Khao Thalo.
It is a café run by Mityon, selling the still popular Honda motorbikes CUB, DAX and MONKEY.
The shop opens daily from 07:00 until 18:00.
In cooperation with local Honda dealers, Honda now operates CUB Houses all over Thailand.

Not as announced
According to an announcement, a free tour of the new Grande Centre Point Space was to take place between April 5th and 7th. This did not take place. We were told that the open house has been postponed and would now take place in May. In the meantime, the announcement has been cancelled without replacement.
If you visit the websites of Space and the operating company LHMH, you will only find outdated information. The last press release on the LHMH website dates from 2018, the last annual report was published in 2015 ....
Even the artist's drawing for the new hotel is very different from what can be seen on Naklua Road today.

Paddy's new branch
On May 12th, Paddy's Irish Pub & Grill opens on Siam Country Club Road at Mabprachan Reservoir, near the entrance to Soi Pornprapanimit 34.

Pasha goes Marijuana

Japanese Ramen
The new Ozawa Ramen Restaurant on Pattaya Central Road not only serves authentic Japanese noodle dishes, but also has a new signal system that shows pedestrians all three available signal colours simultaneously ....
To cope with the rush of guests, the second part of the restaurant will open in a few days.

The new Spicy Twist Restaurant on Pattaya Beach Road serves spicy but tasty Indian and Thai dishes.
The new restaurant is located between a 7-Eleven and a Family Mart near the entrance to Soi 5.

Pan Pan says goodbye to Terminal21
Pan Pan, the Italian restaurant known from Thappraya Road in Jomtien, has also closed its branch in Terminal21.
The diversions to Terminal21 and before that to CentralPattaya (formerly also known as CentralFestival) was obviously not worth it.

In Soi Chaiyapoon (official name Soi Chaloem Phrakiat 25), a bar and restaurant called COCO has opened in the space formerly occupied by Amon Bar.
The new establishment already seems to be very popular with Pattaya punters.

Escape at Tree Town, currently operated by Buzzin Media Group as an EDM (Electronic Dance Music) nightclub, announced that the establishment will operate as A Go-Go Club from June 2022, showcasing more girls than any other A Go-Go Bar in town.
