Pattaya police and immigration inspect nightclubs throughout Pattaya daily, checking tourists' passports or their passport copies in search of foreigners who have overstayed their visas.
Thailand has been begging for tourists for months. Now they are finally here and are treated like criminals.
According to the government's pronouncements, the Thai Immigration Department has an efficient computer program that ensures seamless monitoring of tourists. Apparently, it cannot detect overstayers - or the officials are too stupid to use the system's capabilities.

Quality medical services in Thailand?
The Thai government claims to oversee health care and medical services. The universal health care is provided through three programs designed to cover the entire population and legal residents.
The private healthcare sector is large in Thailand. Many new hospitals and medical facilities are taking advantage of economic conditions and the weak currency to attract more medical tourism.
Since corruption is still widespread in this country, there are also many black sheep who want to earn money from the lucrative medical tourism.
But even among the licensed hospitals there are many companies that try to squeeze a lot of money out of the patients with dubious methods, even here in Pattaya ....

Thailand warship capsized
On Sunday 18 December 2022, a strong storm occurred in the Gulf of Thailand near Prachuap Khiri Khan province, causing several vessels to be in distress, including the HTMS Sukhothai, a Royal Thai Navy warship, despite a storm warning issued by the authorities.
According to the Royal Thai Navy, the warship began taking on water due to the strong winds and high waves. This led to a power failure and subsequently the loss of control of the engines and steering mechanism. The ship continued to take on water until it finally sank overnight. As it later turned out, the ship did not have enough life jackets on board, as there were guests on board in addition to the normal crew ....
HTMS Sukhothai commanding officer Commander Pichitchai Tuannadee said he has never faced such a situation over the past 10 years.

Published by Khaosod english on November 28th on its Facebook page:
A 27-year-old civil engineer working for a local administrative body in Nong Bua Lamphu province committed suicide on Friday night and left a damming suicide letter saying he decided to take his own life because he couldn't bear the systemic and endemic corruption at his workplace related to inspection and approval of road and infrastructural construction.
Panumesuan wrote to final letter to his parents that he couldn't cope with the corruption system where he was instructed to collect bribes from construction contractors to distribute it to local officials at his tampon administrative office.
"To dad and mom... I'm sorry I have to be doing this.
"I am confronted with an awkward workplace... where I am being coerce into extorting bribe for testing materials," he wrote, adding that the rate is 3 percent of the construction costs.
"I am newly employed and not knowing the rules well only to confront with systemic corruption which is a culture of the tambon administrativeorganisation [Or Bor Tor]," wrote Panumesuan, who joined the local administration six months ago but tendered a resignation letter effective Dec 1."
"In the end I realized I couldn't habitually adjust to the corruption culture.... The local [administrative] system is like a tool for the administrators to make money and not just politicians but civil servant like the director of the Civil Engineering Section as well... Their bad deeds can be narrated without end. May all of them pay for their graft and corruption... If my body is still well [after suicide] please donate it to Khon Kaen University's Department of Anatomy."
Panumesuan's body was found inside his pickup truck where he apparently took his own life by letting the car emissions in. The man also left another letter to the public inside the car.

At the end of November, the Russian airline Azur Air resumed its regular charter flights to Thailand. The airline currently serves Pattaya (U-Tapao) and Phuket. The two destinations seem to be popular, at least the first flights to both places are fully booked.
At the inaugural flight on November 26, guests were greeted with gifts at U-Tapao Pattaya Airport by representatives of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Pattaya tourism businesses.
Azur Air will provide direct flights from Novosibirsk to Pattaya until March 2023.
Pattaya still seems to be the most popular Thai destination among Russian tourists. Before Covid-19 hit Thailand in 2020, the city on the country's east coast attracted more than 1 million Russian visitors each year.
Thailand is popular with Russians not only as a vacation destination. In the first eight months of this year, Russian investors were the leading buyers of pool villas. They mostly opted for units with three to five bedrooms worth between 17 and 35 million Baht. They were followed by Chinese buyers.
In contrast, the portion of Conddominum Matket open to foreigners was dominated by Chinese buyers, followed by American, French, Russian, British, Taiwanese, Australian, Indian, Cambodian and Myanmar buyers.
In the first nine months of this year, Pattaya welcomed more than 9.11 million tourists, of which 8.74 million were Thai but only 375'653 were foreigners. According to the TAT, more than 55 billion Baht in revenue was generated during this period.

Triggered by the "new wave" of Covid infections, Thailand's Institute of Dermatology will resume providing free COVID-19 vaccinations to members of the public on December 17th, 2022.
The free vaccinations are open to both Thais and foreigners from the age of 5. Those who want to get their third booster must make sure that their last vaccination was administered at least 120 days prior.
The vaccines to be administered are Pfizer, both purple and orange cap.
According to the CVC Bang Sue Grand Station Facebook page, the public can now make appointments for immunizations in December, with breaks on Dec. 3rd, 10th, 24th and 31st.
This is not scaremongering. As any hospital and any doctor or nurse can confirm, covid illnesses are currently on the rise again. They are usually triggered by large events or other large gatherings of people.

Even large companies like the Terminal 21 shopping center are not immune to planning errors. At the first attempt - a few years ago - it turned out that not only the staircase was completely wrongly dimensioned, but also the entire traffic routing around the building.
