193 Million Baht washed away into Pattaya's Streets?
After yesterdays rain everybody could see that Pattaya's 193 Million Baht beachfront drainage system was a flop, once again initiated by Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Khunplome and his City Hall.
The up to 2 meter wide and 1.2 kilometer long pipelines couldn't solve the city's chronic flooding problems, Bangkok Post reports.

To support the announced education of Thailand's citizens on the Junta's new constitution, Suan Dusit Rajabhat University conducted a poll.
According to this poll most people still need to know more about the draft charter.
The Military Junta is dispatching soldiers to convince people across the country to support the new constitution drafted under its oversight.
The Military Junta also launched daily three-minute TV and radio spots to promote its new constitution, but is not providing airtime for the constitution's opponents...
Information released by Thailand's Military Junta have to be broadcasted by all broadcasters in this country.
In Thailand money can buy everything
In Thailand money can buy almost everything and everybody, Bangkok Post claims. Money even can buy beautiful friends the newspaper reports.
A Proverb says:
In Asia businesses run between friends. If you don't have any you have to buy some.
Chinese Dissidents live in fear in Thailand
No save haven for Chinese Dissidents in Thailand. Since Thailand's Military Junta took the power and its close collaboration with China the once safe Kingdom is forcing repatriation of the political refugees even if another country grants asylum.
Thailand once was a free and democratic country, a dissident told Bangkok Post during an interview.
Stupid Thai Students?
The latest tests organised by the National Institute of Educational Testing Service (Niets) show that Thai students failed eight out of nine subjects on average.
The 2016 tests also reveal that the level of knowledge among rural students in Thailand is about three years behind students in urban areas due to the lack of qualified teachers in real areas.
The study also shows that to achieve good results students are in need of private tutors. Students in rural parts of this country usually do not have the money to pay private tutors.
The study shows once again that Thailand's stupid students are the result of stupid teachers, myLady claims.
Just another proof of Thailand's educational shortcomings.
For more information please read the report published by Bangkok Post.
Update (February 11th):
The questions are stupid too, Bangkok Post writes...
Stupid Teachers = stupid Students = stupid Officials - or not, myLady asks.
Wasting Taxpayers' Money?
Thailand's Tourism and Sports Ministry invested 1.8 million Baht for decorating a few-hour long meeting with Dictator General Prayuth Chan-ocha, Bangkok Post reports.
We - as well as almost all cartoonists in this country - eagerly are awaiting the Ministry's justification.
Thailand's Tourism and Sports Ministery is also overseeing the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).
Go Cambodia and Myanmar
Thailand's Tourism and Sports Minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul is urging Thai tourism and hospitality businesses to tap into Myanmar and Cambodia because on growing tourism in the two neighbouring countries, Bangkok Post reports.
Perhaps the Expats living in this country should heed the recommendation too and move there before Thai businesses cash in...

Lazy Police
On Monday afternoon Police Major General Ampon, the Provincial Police Commander, welcomed the Army, the Police, Banglamung District Officers, Pattaya City Hall Officials and the media to announce a big and so far unlimited crackdown on traffic violations.
He claimed that officers will be looking out for motorists who overtake slower-moving vehicles in areas of double or single yellow lines.
Those parked in prohibited areas, in either red & white or black & white zones will be targeted along with those motorists who cross junction lines to turn into side-roads before the traffic light turns green.
Motorists who travel in the wrong direction along roads and vehicles displaying fake license plates will also be targeted.
It seems the lovely man made his announcement without knowledge of the literal laziness of our Police.
The picture above shows the nightly situation on Pattaya South Road between Walking Street and Second Road. Our Police is passing this section a few times a night, but obviously nothing happens.
On Soi 7 and 8, just in front of Pattaya Police Station, Motorcycle Taxi Drivers and stupid Farangs are running their vehicles in the wrong direction almost whole the day but our Police close their eyes.
Pattaya Baht Bus Drivers attack Tourist
Because an Uzbek Tourist didn't accept the proposed fare for a raid from Pattaya Walking Street to his hotel, the driver attacked the Tourist with the 'help' of a few another songtaew drivers.

Important Notice
Since General Prayuth Chan-ocha and his Military Junta launched their Coup d'état on May 22nd, 2014, Thailand's Visa ground rules are constantly changing. Bad times need New Ideas
Since Thailand's Military took over the country the Kingdom's economy is on a continuing downturn.
Particularly Pattaya is suffering.
During the last two years the number of tourists visiting Thailand's Beach Resort declined one-third, from 9 million visitors in 2013 to 6 million in 2015.
Less tourists means less money for all the people working in Pattaya, including their families living upcountry.
Bad times provide new opportunities
During the last 12 months or so a lot of new restaurants opened in this amazing city providing tasty food at more reasonable prices.
It's now possible to order a small but tasty steak with some french fries and a small salad for 39 - 49 Baht only at many outlets in and around Pattaya. On Soi Khaotalo as well as on Pattaya South Road you can order tasty noodle dishes starting from 10 Baht.
A few days ago four of us visited an all new food outlet on Pattaya 3rd Road to taste its Kao Tom Rice Soup, a popular Thai dish.
The restaurant, called Open Porridge Pot, provides a wide variety of Kao Tom. You order the Rice Soup base and add ingredients like chicken, pork, mushrooms etc. according your taste.

32 Bridge Players arrested
Thailand's Army, Pattaya Police and District Officials raided an apartment rented by the well-known Jomtien & Pattaya Bridge Club in South Pattaya and arrested 32 Foreigners playing the popular Contract Bridge Card Game.
For more information about the latest incident targeting Foreigners please read the reports published by Pattaya One, Bangkok Post, Khaosod English, The Guardian, Al Jazeera, Financial Times, ABC News, The Telegraph, Sky News, EveningStandard, The Sun, Voice of America and/or BBC News to name a few only.
It seems that the military and district officials who initiated the raid probably didn't know that bridge is a sport, Chaiyut Assanaiyarat, the manager of the Contract Bridge League of Thailand, told the press.

The Guardian also claims that the informant was a lady (not a man)
myLady believes that all forms of playing cards is illegal in this funny country, be it for money or not. But it is legal to sell the cards to everybody as long the card boxes have an official government seal...
Furthermore, according to an ancient law harking back to 1935 of section 8 of the Playing Cards Act, no individual is allowed to have more than 120 cards at any one time in their possession.

Darel Davenport's death marked the end of a five-week spiral that began on New Year's Eve when he was attacked by staff members of his Soi Cowboy bar and finaly forcing one of Bangkok's flagship A Go-Go bars into darkness.
Bangkok Post reports that Darel Davenport struggled with his addiction to cocaine and other drugs for some time while his personal crisis intensified in recent months when he descended into depression and paranoia.

Do you know?
Beer has less calories than almost any ordinary Soft Drink, Fruit Juice and Milk.
The main problem with beer is its inability to detect satiety.
Nevertheless, Beer can be healthy too:
Brewed according to the Bavarian Reinheitsgebot (German Beer Purity Law) from 1516, the beer's only ingredients are (clear) water, barley and hops. Hops are extensively used in herbal medicine because of their antibacterial effects.
Beer has less Calories
To fill the daily human needs for Calcium, you need to drink 53 (650ml) bottles of beer only...

A Nation soaked in Superstition
Thailand is a culture soaked in superstition. The obsession is widely supported by Buddhist Monks and is holding the nation back. The belief in ghosts keeps Thailand an underdeveloped country.
The spirit world is everywhere in Thailand where animism and folk beliefs are deeply infused with Buddhism. Buildings have to have a spirit house, a shrine placed in an auspicious corner of a property where offerings can be made to appease ghosts lest they turn malevolent.
Even Thailand's notoriously fractious politics is drawing on the occult. A paranoid public.
Thailand's Latest Humbug
Human-like superstitious dolls are Thailand's latest sacred object and their possessors believe they can bring them good luck and fortune.
Tukkata Look Thep (Child Angels) holders are mostly urban middle class and relatively well-educated women of middle age, a survey claims.
Doll manufacturers - with the corroboration of Buddhist temples and monks - started pushing the resin dolls last year and processing "spiritualisation", inviting angels to inhabit the dolls. The dolls are priced from 1'000 Baht and up to many tens of thousands of Baht.
The spiritual dolls also need food, dresses, accommodation and transportation.
Therefore the Child Angels are already big business here in Thailand: Restaurants, airlines, bus services, beauty salons, nursery-care services, gift shops, music teachers and language schools all offer their services to the angel and its holders.
At Thai Smile Airways (a wholly owned subsidiary of Thai Airways) owners of Child Angels can buy tickets for the popular life-like dolls and they will be treated like ordinary passengers. Snacks and drinks will be served to the dolls while seatbelts must be fastened for them during take-off and landing.
Nevertheless, Public Health Minister Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn urged owners of child angel dolls to see psychiatrists - if they think the dolls talk back to them.
