The General doesn't know the Law
Lt Gen Kampanat Ruddit, the front man for the First Army Region, handed over a sunshade with the message Never say no to passengers on March 13th to 100 Taxi Drivers in Bangkok and urged them to put it on a window to show the people their support of the campaign.
The General obviously doesn't know the law:
For the safety of passengers Thailand's law does not allow taxis to put sunshades over windows.
Lt Gen Kampanat Ruddit was handpicked by the Junta Leader to help him run the country and to return happiness to the people...
Stupidity never dies.
Be Alert

Price Hike
Since Friday March 27th Cigarettes, Beer and Liquor cost more.
Producers and importers have to pay an additional 2% to the Government for a new sports tax.
The new sports tax comes on top of the excise tax and contributions to two other funds: 3 billion Baht a year goes to the Thai Health Promotion Foundation and another 2 billion Baht to ThaiPBS, a public TV operator modelled after UK's BBC.
The 2% sports tax is calculated from the excise tax the companies have to pay each year.
According to calculations the sports tax will stand at about 3 billion Baht a year.
As a result cigarettes will cost about 1 Baht more, for a can of beer you have to pay between 1 and 2 Baht and for a bottle of cheap 100 Baht liquor about 2 Baht more.
We couldn't find the word wine in the new regulation...
TiT (This is Thailand). But that's not the end: Thailand's Education Ministry is pushing another new fund to promote learning quality. The Education Ministry asks for a 1.5% (education) tax or something in between 2-3 billion Baht a year... Thai Vegetables still Contaminated
The Thai Pesticide Alert Network (Thai-PAN) tested vegetables randomly collected from Tesco Lotus, Big C, Makro and fresh markets.
The samples showed that many of the vegetables sold in Thailand are still contaminated with chemical residue exceeding the maximum residue limits (MRLs) recommended by the Public Health Ministry, but cabbage were found to be chemical-free.
Japan freezes the number of Thai airlines flights
Japan had banned all airlines registered in Thailand from increasing the number of flights or changing destinations or aircraft types.
It's a premature reaction to air safety issues.
Japanese authorities rejected plans by Thai-registered airlines to increase their services to meet the high demand for seats over the Songkran festival period in April.
Japan's CAB has responded to the International Civil Aviation Organisation's concern expressed on March 2nd about the standard of air safety certification in Thailand.
According to the ICAO, the International Civil Aviation Organization, Thailand's Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) has issued certificates for 41 airlines.
Representatives of the ICAO, an UN organisation, audited the DCA's air-safety standards from January 19th to January 30th, 2015, and expressed serious safety concerns.
Update #1 (March 27th):
South Korea joined Japan and banned new charter and scheduled flights operated by Thai-registered airlines.
Update #2 (March 30th):
Instead of punishing or sacking the responsible lazy and/or corrupt Officials, Thailand is pressing on the heartstrings, is threatening with higher fares and blames the previous Governments by claiming that the issue has gone untouched for decades and no previous governments have ever regarded it as an important matter.
Problems have been piling up over time and their impacts on aviation safety standards have only recently been documented, the Junta's Transport Minister Prajin Juntong said.
To underline the competence of the people involved, Charoen Wangananont, the vice-president of the Thai Travel Agents Association, said that Japan's decision prompted travel agencies to raise tour package prices for those countries by 20% from the current level.
Prices of short tour packages to Japan are likely to soar to almost 40'000 Baht a person from the 20'000 Baht widely offered in the past two weeks, he claims...
The mathematical geniuses probably had a window seat during his school days.
Update #3 (March 30th):
The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) rejected a corrective action plan submitted by the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA).
Update #4 (March 30th):
Thailand's Transport Minister Prajin Juntong announces Special Measures eyed to pre-empt foreign airline bans.
Update #5 (March 30th):
China is now banning new Thai-registered flights. Singapore is imposing strict inspections, expressing significant safety concerns.

Slow Loris are back at Pattaya's CentralFestival
Pattaya Police:
Nothing than Bla Bla On February 20th, 2015, Pattaya Police told the press that they arrested a woman in front of the CentralFestival Shopping Complex who was charging tourists to pose for photos with an endangered Slow Loris.
Since a few days the Slow Loris are back at the 2nd Road's entry to CentralFestival, Pattaya's premium shopping complex owned by CPN.
Slow Loris have to pose for photos on Walking Street too, usually at the entry to the La Notte Pub and Restaurant, but Pattaya Police close the eyes.
![]() Pattaya One:
Gone with the Wind During the last weekend Pattaya One, one of this city best known (english) crime-reporting websites, tried to update its CMS (Content Management System) and failed.
As a result the website displays the message pictured above since many days.
It's not the first time a new version of a CMS collapse:
After a recent update Bangkok Post's mobile pages didn't work correctly for about one month.
The Nation's site is fully loaded with Pop-Up windows. On many smartphones you can't close them. As a result you can't read their publication.
But incidents like that are not restricted to South East Asia alone:
After its latest update, Switzerland's second largest Newspaper, known as Tages-Anzeiger, displays since many weeks a white and empty page only on all smartphones not running on Android's latest versions...
CMS programs are popular among NEWS publishers, but we don't like them.
They not only produce unnecessary spaghetti-code: Testing the generated HTML codes with an appropriate source code analysis tool shows that the codes from almost all CMS' are full of programming errors.
Update (March 22nd, 2015):
Since midnight the updated website is accessible again, but slow as ever.
Despite a completely new design no improvement in performance.
Vorakit Construction again in the News
Vorakit Construction Co., Ltd., the firm responsible for the construction of Pattaya's controversial Waterfront Suites & Residence on Bali Hai as well as Mike's Place, a new 287-room hotel on Soi Phettrakun behind North Pattaya's Big C Shopping Center, is in the news again.

Air Pollution Warning
Thailand's Pollution Control Department reported yesterday that nine air-quality monitoring stations in northern provinces found that the volume of particulate matter with a maximum diameter of 10 microns (PM10) had risen over the safe level of 120 micrograms per cubic metre of air due to uncontrolled burns and wild fires.
The highest recorded figure so far is an alarming 254 micrograms in Lampang, while its has also risen above a safe level in Lamphun (214), Phrae (209), Chiang Mai (176) and Tak (130).
The air pollution is a chronic problem in the northern region.

Phone Scam
Responding to pressure from National Reform Council's (NRC) consumer protection committee, mobile phone operators in January agreed to charge clients per second of airtime used, instead of charging by the minute.

The contrary happened: The new per-second phone packages from AIS, Dtac and True Move cost clients more.

Pattaya Policeman kills Motorcycle Driver
While returning from a party of classmates Pol Sr Sgt Maj Somyot Champahom allegedly ran a red traffic light in Pattaya in the early hours of Sunday and killed a 42-year old motorcycle driver in the middle of Chaiyapruek intersection on Sukhumvit Road.
A 39-year old man who witnessed the incident, told police that he saw the officer's speeding car run the red traffic light and crash head-on with the motorcycle in the opposite lane.
The officer insists he had not driven through a red light but was detained for an alcohol test.
Pattaya soon without Police?
The Nakhon Ratchasima police chief and the Muang police chief have been abruptly shunted to inactive posts for using checkpoints soley to collect traffic fines instead of ensuring public safety as ordered.
Police Region 3 commander Pisan Julladilok claims that Ratchasima police chief Thakul Nattheesri and Muang district police chief Pathiyut Singsomroj were found to have focused mainly on setting up police checkpoints to fine motorists and collect more money, which was contrary to his instructions.
From traffic fines Police men get a share of.
Update: Pol Maj Gen Suwan Ekpho, commander of Buri Ram Police, ordered all Police Stations in his province to get permission before setting up any checkpoints.
Officers have to focus on public safety instead of enriching themselves through traffic fines, he told his men.
With commanders as Police Region 3 or Buri Ram, Pattaya would be without Police very soon...

According to Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), tourism in Pattaya actually declined less than 5 percent during the first three quarters of 2014.

City Hall didn't announce if the parked vehicles are insured in case of an incorrect functioning of the automatic parking lift(s).
In 2008 Pattaya officials allocated about 738 million Baht to built the car parking facility. According to Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Khunplome City Hall a privat company will run the parking garage, supported by professionals from (South) Korea.
From April 1st, a company called MP Meg Co. Ltd. will run the parking garage. It can hold up to 400 cars. Parking fee will be 30 Baht/hour. The operator has to pay a rent of 350'000 Baht/month to Pattaya City Hall.

Thailand - according to a translation the Land of the Free - is governed under Martial Law imposed by a self-appointed Military Junta on May 22nd, 2014.
Critics of the Junta, whether by words or gestures, are arrested by the police or the military and are awaiting a re-education.
Hopeless cases are prosecuted and sent to prison for up to 15 years under an over 100-year old Lèse-majesté law.
The Junta Leader ordered his hand-picked Government to set up a Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) to rewrite Thailand's Constitution.
In the meantime the members of the former (legally elected) Government, who tried to rewrite part of the Constitution, have to be punished by a Court for their attempt to rewrite the Charter. They wanted to cut back the power of Thailand's Army and Bangkok's Elite as provided by the former Constitution.
Just after the coup, the Junta Leader suspended Thailand's Constitution with the exception of Section 2. It says: Thailand adopts a democratic regime of government with the King as Head of State.
The Junta's new Constitution will allow an unelected Prime Minister as well as a Senate that will be indirectly elected from pools of candidates nominated by ex-politicians, the National People's Assembly and other groups to cement the Power of Bangkok's so called Elite and Thailand's Military.

On January 8th, 2014, Chonburi's Province Governor officially opened 17 pick-up and drop-off zones for Baht Buses along Pattaya's Beach Road. The driver's from Pattaya's influential Baht Bus Cooperative ignore the Bus Stops since the launch.
Nevertheless our Police regularly remove cars and motorcycles parked in the designed areas, but ignore the cars and motorcycles parked on Pattaya's 3-million wheelchair path on Soi Phaniatchang since June 2014.
The wheelchair path is used daily by the about 850 students from the Soi's Redemptorist Vocational School, but Pattaya's Police don't care...
Update March 2nd, 2015:
We just learned that Chonburi Governor Khomsan Ekachai ordered Pattaya Police and City Officials to clear the (absolutely unnecessary) Bus Stops.
We urge the obviously powerful Governor to tell the Police to clean up Soi Phaniatchang's wheelchair path for the sake of Pattaya's Handycapped.
Wheelchair Path still blocked!
On Soi Phaniatchang, also known as Soi Yume or Soi Carrefour, City Hall spent 3 million Baht for a wheelchair path. Pattaya's large-hearted road users are happy to block the path with their vehicles and say thank you for the new parking lane.
It seems that nobody takes care of the about 850 students from the Soi's Redemptorist Vocational School - not even our lazy police. They close the eyes.
PS: On July 28th Officials from City Hall inspected the area. They discovered that people drive their vehicles to fast in this small Soi and (as documented on this website since June 2014) are parking cars and motorcycles on the wheelchair way. Pattaya's Officials urge the people not to be selfish...
![]() And that's the result of City Hall's 3 million Baht investment...
Update: On October 21st Pattaya Deputy Mayor Ronnakit Aegasing paid a visit to the area and saw himself that irresponsible people are obstructing the stretch. Therefore the lovely Deputy Mayor arranged a meeting for October 24th to discuss the matter...

The Godfather's Story
![]() Military Junta Leader and Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha pushed back general election promised for late 2015, saying that election must come with a new constitution and eleven reform areas. Therefore he can stretch election into 2016 or 2017...
The Dictator and his wife have declared a joint worth of 128 million Baht in assets and 654'745 Baht in debt. He said he could not remember the details, but all of the items could be examined and verified. I can justify my personal wealth, he claims.
On May 9th, 2013, the General sold nine plots of land totalling 50 rai located in Bangkok's Bang Bon district to 69 Property Co Ltd. The company has a British Virgin Islands address, was registered just 7 days before the deal and belongs to Thailand's liquor and property billionaire Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi.
When Thaksin Shinawatra sold his AIS to Temasek Holdings, a company owned by the Government of Singapore, the very same Bangkok Elite called the deal a foulplay...
Selling assets to a foreign company is a legal way for Thai citizens to avoid paying taxes, but it seems it is a big difference if a member of Bangkok's Elite does the deal or a newcomer from Chiang Mai.
The Junta Leader ordered the media not publishing news about Thailand's former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. Dictator Prayuth Chan-ocha claims that Thaksin Shinawatra violated Thailand's law.
Be aware of the NSA
The National Security Agency has built a network that can access as much as 75% of all U.S. Web traffic. With the help of Great Britain's Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), they control whole of Europe too.
New Zealand supports the Criminals from NSA
Documents released by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden show that New Zealand's Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) spies on Vietnam, China, India, Pakistan, South American nations and a range of other countries to help fill gaps in worldwide surveillance operations by the United States National Security Agency (NSA).

NSA chief Admiral Michael Rogers declined to comment on the latest reports that the NSA implanted spyware on commercially made hard drives, and that it worked with British intelligence to hack into the world's biggest maker of SIM cards to be able to access mobile communications.
![]() Disolve the European Union! It's nothing else than a gigantic Mafia Organisation wasting the Taxpayers money.
![]() The bureaucrats in the European Union are supporting Monsanto, Dupont, Syngenta, Bayer Crop Science and KWS and endanger with their regulations the biodiversity of our foods, plants and animals.
Stop these idiots, before it's too late!
Disolve the
European Union! We tell it since many year but now Neil Woodford, one of the UK's most successful fund managers, claims that the eurozone is not viable in its current form.
The Eurozone is fundamentally flawed, he says.
![]() Global Warming:
It's a Myth!
Nature isn't predictable
1968 scientists predicted the comeback of the Ice-Time. What they will tell you tomorrow?
We do not ignore 'Climat Change', but we know that this planet faces 'Climate Changes' since millions of years - some even a lot more dramatic than today and without the help of humans.
Todays 'Climat Change' is nothing else than a very lucrative business idea.
The United Nations Environment Programme (Unep) claims: Global Warming could cost almost three times as much as thought... The CO2 emissions tax doesn't reduce any CO2 emission, its just another way to extort money from the taxpayers. The United Nations as well as the European Union are some of the world's most useless organisations.
Milk the Cow before somebody else does it, that's their motto!
Avoid Electric Vehicles
Electric Vehicles use batteries and batteries are not only a threat to our planet during manufacturing, the 'Recycling' of batteries is still an unsolved problem in most countries.
Don't use Solar Cells
Solar Cells are a threat to our planet:
The higher the efficiency of a Solar Cell the more Cadmium it contains.
Cadmium is banned from most products in almost all countries, but it can be used without restrictions in Solar Cells. Who controls the 'Recycling' of Solar Cells?

Why your Internet doesn't break
Chris Baraniuk from BBC (London) explains why the disastrous events that would break the internet will never happen.
A must read for everybody using the WWW.
We use the phone for what it's made for!
Thailand's phone providers still do not believe that there are some people that use their phone for what it is made for: Making Phone calls only and/or for sending a SMS message.
For sending or reading emails or surfing the internet we use a real computer. It's simply more convenient.
We don't need - or even pay for - 3G or 4G or 5G.
The $30 Smartphones
At Barcelona's Mobile World Congress (MWC) Microsoft just presented a smartphone called the Nokia Lumia 520. It will be on sale for a lousy $30. It's Nokia's cheapest Windows Phone 8 device.
Lenovo also claims to have a $30 smartphone, but powered by Google's Android 4.4.
Check your dealer during the next few weeks for the new phones.
Useless Software
The latest Hacker attack into the Mandarin Oriental luxury hotel group's database is just another proof that anti-virus software is useless.
It only slows down your computer.
The hotel group said the breach came from malicious software that was undetectable by all anti-virus systems.
Moreover, it is known that some anti-virus programmers design there very own malicious software to gain access of other peoples computers and databases.
648 Million
The number of fixed-line and mobile Internet users in China increased to about 648.75 million in December 2014.
Unfortunately they share the same problem as Thailand's internet surfers: They can't use all the information provided by the World Wide Web...
According to the latest numbers, there were 1.29 billion subscribers of mobile communication services in China as of the end of January 2015.
![]() Milking Foreigners!
Thailand's National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department ordered that admission fees for foreigners at national parks throughout the country have to be 400 Baht.
Entry charge for Thai nationals remains 40 Baht for adults and 20 Baht for children.
To cover the inequity the local's prices are printed in Thai script only.
![]() No progress on Jet Ski saga:
Pattaya City Hall still doesn't do anything to stop the scam!
All the announcements made during last year were City Hall Blah-Blah only...
As long as Jet Ski vendors - respectively their victims - fill up our officials' pockets nothing will happen! But Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Khunplome told Bangkok Post on March 26th, 2015:
![]() The boats are overloaded, don't provide lifevests for all passengers, are badly maintaited and aren't covered by adequate insurance policies.
Pattaya's lazy and allegedly corrupt Officials promised to check owners, personnel and boats regularly, but they don't. ![]() According to Pattaya Police, it is common in this resort that foreign tourists get drugged and robbed in their hotel rooms, apartments or houses by prostitutes or ladyboys. ![]() Ladyboy Pick-Pocket Gangs are working almost daily on Pattaya's Beach Promenade! ![]() Never wear Gold in Pattaya! Between 30 to 50 snatching valuables cases are reported to Pattaya's Police every single month. Google translates:
