![]() Be flexible with visa runners!
Army Chief, Junta Leader and Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha told Thailand's
Immigration Bureau during his weekly televised programme to be flexible with "visa runners".
According to the General the change of the visa system concerning visa runners has considerably affected certain groups such as English teachers and academics.
![]() Thailand is still missing its tourists
Thailand's Department of Tourism reports that the number of international tourists arriving in Thailand in July fell 10.9% from a year earlier.
General Prayuth Chan-ocha and his Military Junta expected that Thailand's Tourist Industry will recover fast after they 'reintroduced Law and Order'.
A misjudgement:
After the General's May 22nd coup Thailand's tourism sector suffered its biggest drop in visitors in June. Obviously there are still a lot of people in this world not appreciating Military Dictatorship.

Thailand takes the Lead
Thailand takes No 1 spot in new Global Beachfront Awards with an amazing 1'250 beachfront hotels.
The report published by The Beachfront Club, a Bangkok based website, keeps secret the fact that many of these Beachfront Hotel drain their waste water directly and untreated into the sea - to 'enhance' the healthy of their guests and to fill up the pockets of the nearby pharmacies and dermatologists.
Nevertheless, Thailand is so proud of the award, that most media forget to mention that, at least according to Thailand's law, most of this hotels are illegally built.
The first 30 meters of all beaches in this country belong to the public and not to the owners of hotels and condominiums...
American Tourist Brutally Attacked By Pattaya Hybrid

A Jet Airways aircraft flying to Brussels suddenly dropped 5'000 feet over Ankara.
The pilot was taking a nap as per rules, and the co-pilot claims she was busy on her tablet and did not notice that the aircraft had lost altitude.
The plane was pulled back to its assigned height after the co-pilot received a call from the alarmed air traffic controller.

Pattaya's Officials too busy to prevent attacks on tourists
On Wednesday afternoon an 8-year old Thai-German Boy was attacked by a pack of straying dogs at the Northern end of Pattaya Beach.
When a Beach vendor reported a problem with the very same dogs to City Hall a few days before the incident, Pattaya's Officers claimed to be too busy to deal with the problem...

Pattaya is badly missing Tourists from Russia
Sinchai Watthanasartsathorn, President of the Buinessman Association and Tourism of Pattaya City, claims that the amount of Russian tourists visiting Pattaya during the low season has fallen by 30%.
The lack of Russian tourists has affected Pattaya's market. The Russians are known as Big Spenders. They spend more money than any other tourists in Pattaya.
One of the problem is that insurance companies will not insure tourists travelling to countries facing political unrest.
Russian tourists are now traveling to Vietnam and Myanmar. These countries are a lot cheaper. About 20% of Pattaya's Russians tourists go elsewhere, Mr. Sinchai said.
Bangkok has to sleep at 02:00
Thailand's Military Junta claims it is successfully deterring Bangkok nightspots from staying open illegally after 02:00.
Col Noppasit Sitthipongsopon, deputy commander of the 1st Cavalry Division, has been leading weekend inspections of clubs and bars in Phetchaburi, Thong Lor, Rong Muang and Patpong.
He said most of the late night businesses visited by his team were found to have shut on time. The inspections show business operators and police that the military regime is serious about maintaining law and order.
General Prayuth Chan-ocha, the Junta's chief, voiced concern about the abuse of restricted substances, particularly shisha tobacco pipes, and questioned the legality of mobile bars on wheels.
Drug-resistant Malaria Parasites
A study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, shows that drug-resistant malaria parasites are now firmly established in border regions in Thailand and three neighbouring countries, imperilling global efforts to control the disease.
The parasites which are resistant to the frontline drug artemisinin have spread to border areas in western and northern Cambodia, eastern Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
Crack down on date-rape drugs
Junta Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha and his National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) announced a crack down on date-rape drugs by regulating imports of the drug's key ingredients.
The NCPO will amend the law to make importing volatile Alkyl nitrite, a base substance of the drug, legal only with permission from authorities.
Smile moves to Don Mueang
THAI Smile announced that from August 8th onwards it will move flights to and from Phuket, Chiang Mai and Khon Kaen to Don Mueang.
THAI Smile, a unit of Thai Airways International, plans to move all operations for point-to-point flights to Bangkok's old military owned airport on October 26th, 2014.
Flights connecting to Thai Airways will still operate at Suvarnabhumi airport.
On July 27th, 2014, Junta Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha's National Committee for Peace and Order (NCPO) transferred five executive vice-presidents of Thai Airways International to inactive posts to pave the way for army and air force officers...
![]() Blowing Windmill
Today at 02:30 a tourist notified Pattaya Police about a stripper show at Soi Diamond's Windmill A Go-Go Club.
Pol.Col. Suppatee Boonkrong, the acting Commander, immediately ordered his Deputy Inspector to lead a team to investigate.
At the venue the astonished Officers found nine performers dancing naked on the stages.
Our lovely Police arrested them all as well as the 31 year old manager for holding a naked show.
Back at the Police Station the ladies were fined 1'000 Baht each.
End Extortions!
Pol Lt Gen Ruangsak Charitek, the assistant National Police Chief, warned police station chiefs nationwide that they will face administrative punishment if their subordinates are found to have extorted money from motorcycle taxi drivers.
Officers found guilty of extortion would face both decisive disciplinary action and criminal penalties
Thailand's Police Chief urged people to send information about influential figures or state officers extorting money from public vehicle operators via Hotline 1599.
The hotline is open 24 hours a day.
Any idea how these subordinates can pay their Ninjas and Ducatis in the coming months?
General and his Gang extorte money from Patpong vendors
Thailand's Crime Suppression Division (CSD) and the Military detained Maj Gen Jennarong Dechawan, an Army General also known as Seh James, and four civilians for allegedly extorting money from vendors at Patpong, Bangkok's best known night entertainment strip on Silom Road.
Vendors at the so-called Patpong Bazaar say a Military Mafia is behind the extortion.
12 different groups run by officials collect about 700'000 Baht each month from Patpong's vendors.
Vendors who paid got stickers with the words Government Coordination Centre for the Order of Patpong Road.
Hesitating vendors would be arrested or threatened.
Update: A group of Patpong market vendors claims that Maj Gen Jennarong Dechawan was helping them beat back a mafia group. He had helped end bribes to influential locals, not taken bribes himself, the group claims...
But when Lt Col Burin Thongpraphai, a staff judge advocate of the 2nd Cavalry Division, arrested the lovely General, he allegedly was in possession of the marked money the vendors had to pay.
Same game as in a mafia storybook.

By law, all tourists and expats nationwide are required to carry their original passports with them at all times.
Failure to carry your original passport may result in a 2'000 Baht fine.
The reason behind this is that Immigration needs to keep track of overstayers and foreign criminals who may be staying illegally in the country.
No other forms of identification are acceptable. This includes any other form of photo ID, such as a Thai/foreign driving license or a photocopy of your passport.

Update August 22nd:
The Education Ministry is investigating widely advertised "homework".
Doing students homework is a lucrative business. Some teachers took on the work because they were poorly paid and doing homework for students was a way to earn extra money. Wheelchair Path still blocked!
On Soi Phaniatchang, also known as Soi Yume or Soi Carrefour, City Hall spent 3 million Baht for a wheelchair path. Pattaya's large-hearted road users are happy to block the path with their vehicles and say thank you for the new parking lane.
It seems that nobody takes care of the about 850 students from the Soi's Redemptorist Vocational School - not even our lazy police. They close the eyes.
PS: On July 28th Officials from City Hall inspected the area. They discovered that people drive their vehicles to fast in this small Soi and (as documented on this website since June 2014) are parking cars and motorcycles on the wheelchair way. Pattaya's Officials urge the people not to be selfish...
Pattaya's 'funny' Pedestrian Lights
![]() 9 months after the deadly November 2013 accident Chonburi had to suspend the transportation services of Koh Larn Travel Ltd. again.
Sakchai Tang-Ho, Banglamung's chief district officer, acted because a traveler posted on a website that Koh Larn Travel Limited's boats are unsafe and advised people not to use the company's ferries. You would put your life in danger, the website told.
Pattaya is still funny:
The officials from the Marine Department and Pattaya City Hall have the duty to check the ferries and their personnel - but obviously they don't.
Update (August 10th, 2014): Today Pattaya's Officials from Police and the Marine Departement checked the condition of the boats and the number of passengers travelling on each boat to Koh Larn Island. A spokeman told the press that the checks are a necessity to ensure the security of Pattaya's tourists and to boost the good image of our world-renowned City.
Warning! We just learned that the suspended Koh Larn Travel Ltd. runs its business now as Phech Thada Travel Co. Ltd. with the very same unsafe boats...

Nokia, a unit of Microsoft Devices Group, is laying-off up to 12'500 of its employees, terminates its Android- & Asha-based handsets and is jumping on the low-cost smartphone bandwagon with the launch of a new lowcost Windows 8.1 smartphone.
The Nokia Lumia 530 is featuring dual SIM 3G and a quad-core processor and will cost about US$ 100.
Before entering the high-end market, Nokia was known for many years for its reliable and competitive priced mobile phones.
The late Nicolas Hayek, co-founder, CEO and Chairman of the Board of the Swatch Group, once told the industry that you can't survive in the high-end market without a cheap but high quality entry level product.
Before you buy check the display and the battery. Battery and display are a phone's most expensive parts.
Seven-inch Tablets below $50
Intel and MediaTek are aggressively pursuing the white-box tablet market, forcing the retail price for locally branded Chinese seven-inch tablets below $50.
Android hits them all
During the second quarter of 2014 the industry shipped nearly 300 million smartphones worldwide.
Google's Android OS captured a record 85% market share.
Three of the six top players are Chinese brands: Huawei, Lenovo, and Xiaomi.
Microsoft's Windows Phone share fell another 2% globally.
In other words:
If your Smartphone doesn't run on Android you are a loser.
Say Good Bye to Nokia?
Microsoft is not only laying off 18'000 employers, it plans to discontinue Nokia's Asha-, Series 40- and X-series (Nokia's Android-series) handset products.
Microsoft also plans to rename the Lumia-series.
The first step to eliminate Nokia?
The ongoing restructuring indicates that Microsoft's new CEO Satya Nadella will not follow Steve Ballmer's steps of integrating Microsoft's hardware and software business lines as Apple has done.
