Megalomania?
Pongsak Semsan, the President of Airports of Thailand Plc (AoT), announced that he plans to develop Suvarnabhumi airport into the best airport in the world within six years.
He says that Suvarnabhumi's expansion is already under way. 2017 the work will be finished and it will put an end to Suvarnabhumi's notorious passenger and traffic congestion, the President added.
After that, there will be a two-year drive to improve the quality of services and staff.
Mr. Pongsak didn't explain why AoT can't start with the education of its staff today.
The language skills of staff and the airport's services are well below international standards.
The expansion will increase the airport's passenger-handling capacity from 45 million to 60 million annually.
Later, when the expansion is finished, the AoT will offer its airport management expertise to neighbouring countries, Pongsak Semsan announced...

More Tourists?
According to Thailand's Government a total of 14.96 million Foreigners visited the Kingdom during the first seven months of this year.
The number shows an increase of 20.37% over the same period of last year.
Most visitors arrived from China, Malaysia, Russia, Japan, Korea, India, UK, Laos, Australia and Germany, the government spokesman said.
Doing Businesses in Myanmar
Piya Sosothikul, executive director of Thailand's Seacon Group, claims that Foreigners doing businesses in Myanmar should not believe everything they hear, especially if it sounds too good to be true.
Risk management should be one of the top priorities of foreign business players, as they will confront many risks when dealing with business practices in that country.
Risks include living standards, the cost of living faced by foreigners, food, social unrest, political instability and religious conflict.
According to Mr. Piya there is not even a trademark law yet.
Replace Myanmar by Thailand and you have the perfect warning for starting a business in this country.
Bad Timming
Somewhere on this page we published NightWalker's recommendation for the Kakadu Bar and Restaurant on Naklua's Soi 18.
We just learned that the venue is closed from September 8th until September 22nd.
We hope you will have the opportunity to enjoy Kakadus excellent food later this month. The restaurant will re-open on September 23rd.

Small cars will arrive from Myanmar
Japanese automaker Nissan plans to begin producing small cars and trucks in Myanmar.
Nissan Motor and Malaysia's Tan Chong Motor Holdings Bhd will jointly produce several thousand small passenger cars and pickup trucks a year in the Southeast Asian country.
Japan's Suzuki already announced the restart of its production in the country.
Ford said it will open a showroom in the country...
It seems Japanese companies know to do the job properly.
Myanmar is also known as Birma or Burma and is one of the poorest countries in Asia.

Thai Airways crash landed in Bangkok
Thai Airways TG679 from Guangzhou crash landed in Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport at 23:30 on Sunday night.
One of the engines of the Airbus A330 aircraft caught fire. The plane skidded off the runway.
THAI President Sorajak Kasemsuvan told a slightly different story.
According to him the plane was landing and touching the runaway with the landing gear.
There was some sparks at the base of the right wheel, making it caught fire, he said and added that the Captain of the flight then managed to control the airplane and ordered evacuation of the passengers through emergency exit.
Department of Civil Aviation director general Voradej Harnprasert claims a problem with the back right landing gear caused the plane to lose balance and skid off the runway. The slide resulted in the engine on the right wing to make contact with the ground, causing sparks and fire at the body of the plane.
Depending on the source the 291, 292, 298, 301 or 302 passengers - including the 14 crew - seem to be safe.
12, 13 or 14 people received minor injuries during the evacuation.
Some people suffered from smoke.
But about 40 (?!) injured passengers in the landing accident have complained of poor treatment by THAI Airways' ground staff. They submit their complaints to THAI president Sorajak Kasemsuvan. They said no one from the airline had informed them of how the company would reimburse their medical fees.
On September 12th Thai Airways International (THAI) confirmed that the crash landing injured 40 people.
Buses were packed but remained stationary with passengers, including those who were injured and in a state of extreme shock. The people were locked inside unattended for 20 minutes or more.
Passengers were taken from the accident scene to immigration counters, but some of the passengers had fled the aircraft without their passports, causing confusion.
At the terminal, no staff members were there to receive passengers. There was not even a glass of water to drink.
A day after the crash landing the baggage was still on the stranded flight.
The airline has to investigate the accident and remove the aircraft before unloading, a spokeman informed the press.
THAI executive vice-president for the technical department, Flt Lt Montree Jumrieng, said on September 11th that preliminary testing showed the accident was the result of a defective bogie beam on the aircraft's landing gear. He said the faulty part caused the gear to collapse about 1km down the runway.
According to Flt Lt Montree, Airbus recommended close surveillance of the bogie beams of its A330-300 planes when THAI ordered them. The landing gear was manufactured by French-based firm Messier-Bugatti-Dowty Co.
The European Aviation Safety Authority (EASA) issued an emergency airworthiness directive on June 29th, 2011, about the landing gear of some Airbus aircraft series, including the A330-300 used by Thai.
The bogie beam has a life span of 10 years and the one which broke on Sunday had not been replaced since it was first installed in 2004. But I can confirm that it was checked every two years, Flt Lt Montree said.
Nevertheless, on September 13th Thai Airways ordered an inspection of its entire Airbus A330 fleet. Europe's air safety authority had warned years ago about a defective part in the plane's landing gear. Investigators were studying why the recommended maintenance failed to prevent a mishap outlined in a June 2011 directive from the European Aviation Safety Agency.
All outbound flights from Suvarnabhumi are being delayed until the airport's eastern runway reopens on Wednesday, September 11th 2013.
According to Thailand's Deputy Transport Minister Gen Prin Suvanadat flights should return to normal at about 09:00.
Suvarnabhumi airport has rescheduled the planned reopening of the eastern runway until 18:00 on Wednesday. Heavy rains hampered the plan to haul the jet away from the crash scene on Tuesday night. On September 11, THAI successfully moved its Airbus A330-300 aircraft from Suvarnabhumi Airport runway. Suvarnabhumi Airport's East runway is rescheduled for reopening at midnight of Wednesday.
The affected runway is currently open only to small aircraft.
The Aircraft is registered as HS-TEF. It's one of the oldest Thai aircraft. It is in service since March 1995. Therefore it is already flying for 18 years and 7 months.
On September 11th Thai Airways International chairman Ampon Kittiampon told the press that he remains confident in the airline's safety standards and added that THAI's captains are all the best. The reason for his statement is unknown.
Weather during accident:
Wind calm; Visibility: 10+ km; broken clouds at 30000 feet and 12000 feet, few clouds at 2000 feet; Temperature: 26ºC, Dewpoint: 23ºC.
Some delays are expected for both inbound and outbound flights using Suvarnabhumi Airport on September 9th, September 10th and September 11th, 2013.
We faced some kind of an information chaos during and after the crash, but that is nothing new in this country.

Stupid claim
Star Alliance network has denied a claim by Thai International Airways, one of its members, that it has a policy of obscuring the logo of a plane in case of accident, CNN reported on September 10th, 2013.
Thai Airways official Smud Poomon claimed blurring the logo after an accident was a recommendation from Star Alliance to protect the image of both the airline and other members of Star Alliance.
Thai Airways later issued a statement 'clarifying' its policy. Thai generally practices the deidentifying of an aircraft after an incident. The procedure is not a Star Alliance policy, the statement says.
Nightmare Dreamliner
Low-cost carrier Norwegian Air Shuttle reports a new Dreamliner problem today.
The company had to ground the plane due to a flaw in its electrical system. The aircraft is not getting enough electricity, the company's spokeman said.
The plane was scheduled to leave Oslo for Bangkok on Saturday. After waiting for more than 24 hours, the passengers were transferred to Stockholm. In Stockholm they boarded a chartered plane.
It is the second incident that the company has had this week with its Dreamliner fleet. Last Monday its second plane was stuck on the tarmac of Stockholm's Arlanda airport. A light in the cockpit suggested a problem with the brake system, but technicians concluded later the light had lit up by mistake...
Derailed Train
Train Disaster
The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) announced that it will suspend train services between Uttaradit's Sila At and Chiang Mai stations for six weeks.
The track closure will take effect from September 16th until October 31st, 2013.
The SRT will arrange bus services for passengers between Sila At and Chiang Mai stations, a journey of about 300 kilometres.
The State Railway of Thailand noted 13 (!!!) derailments along the northern route this year until it decided to do some maintenance works.
According to State Railway of Thailand (SRT) Governor Prapat Chongsanguan the foundation of the rail track, which is very old, has been eroded by heavy rains, floods and landslips.
Update September 7th:
A 14th derailment happened at Bangkok's Talat Phlu station today.
Two passengers were injured. State Railway of Thailand (SRT) Governor Prapat Chongsanguan blamed the derailment on the old tracks.
He also said that a long section of the tracks were bent, which indicated they had not received proper maintenance.
Update September 10th:
A parked train locomotive slipped off the rails in Suphan Buri province today.
Reports say that the locomotive slipped off the rail track about 04:05, probably because of the failure in the hydraulic braking system...
Passenger train derailed near Bang Sue railway station in Bangkok
Passenger train derailed near Bang Sue railway station in Bangkok
Today a railway track was damaged after a passenger train derailed near Bang Sue railway station in Bangkok. The picture shows that there isn't any adequate maintenace procedure at Thailand's State Railway.
A passenger train from the South derailed today as it was arriving at Hua Lamphong station in Bangkok.
It was the 115th derailment of an SRT train this Year.
It seems that Thailand's railway services are in a disasterous state.
Nevertheless the country decided it has to have high speed train services.
With the same understanding of the term 'maintenance' a deadly decision.

Phuket: 434 Taxi drivers arrested
The Centre for Preventing and Suppressing Organised Crimes Targeting Tourists on Phuket arrested 434 illegal Taxi drivers on Phuket Island.
The arrest of the illegal Taxi drivers was carried out with the cooperation of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI, Thailand's FBI) after a large number of complaints.
There are 2'882 Taxis registered with the transport office but only 1'133 of them are working legally.
The remaining Taxis have financial problems in being able to become legal so the province was assisting them to find funding sources, a spokesman from the provincial authorities explained the situation.
Furthermore, the concessions for limousine services at Phuket international airport, granted to two companies, have expired and authorities were now in the process of setting up a new system for the service.
Wrongly labeled drugs
The Government Pharmaceutical Organisation (GPO) reports that it mistakenly putted heart failure medicine into packaging for hypertension drugs and delivered them to seven state-owned hospitals in Kanchanaburi, Si Sa Ket, Chaiyaphum, Suphan Buri and Lop Buri provinces.
The GPO has recalled all the wrongly packed drugs.
Nevertheless at least five patients were prescribed the wrong drugs, the spokeman from GPO said.
Update September 8th:
The director of Makarak Hospital in Kanchanaburi's Tha Maka district told the press that 939 mostly elderly patients had been given the wrong drugs...
Thais don't know to think!
In 2012 the Programme for International Student Assessment (Pisa) revealed that Thai students are not good at thinking.
The latest report of the World Economic Forum (WEF) supports the finding: It ranked Thai education bottom out of eight Asean countries surveyed.
Therefore it's no surprise that Thailand's Education Minister Chaturon Chaisaeng felt stunned because of the very low ranking: He got his education in this country too!

Pattaya's Tourist Court
Wirat Chinwinigkul, secretary-general of Thailand's Judiciary announced that Thailand's first tourist court will open on September 5th, 2013 in Pattaya.
From 16.30pm to 20.30pm, foreign tourists can come and lodge complaints, especially over unfair services and personal security.
The Pattaya court would be a pilot project, consideration of cases will be cut to one day for uncomplicated disputes from the usual six months, Mr. Wirat said.
Unfortunately the lovely man forget to tell the press the location of Pattaya's new Tourist Court...
Update (September 5th):
Pattaya's new Tourist Court is located at Jomtien's Provincial Court building on Thappraya Road.
Proceed along Thappraya Road towards Jomtien until you pass Pratumnak Road junction on top of the hill. Keep on going for another 250 m and enter the drive way to the Provincial Court building on your left-hand side.
Higher prices on beers, wines and liquors!
According to Thailand's Excise Department the maximum tax for beer will be maintained at 60% of the product's value, but the effective tax rate per litre of 100% alcohol content will rise from 100 Baht to 300 Baht.
Wine worth less than 600 Baht per bottle will be exempt from the value-based tax, while those priced above 600 Baht will be taxed at 36% of retail value. All wines will now be taxed at 1'000 Baht per litre of pure alcohol, up from 100 Baht.
Liquor prices will increase 7-15%, depending on alcohol content.
The new prices got in effect on September 4th, 2013, at 00:00!
Somchai Pulsawas, director-general of the Excise Department, said the new rates are meant to increase the competitiveness of local producers against importers.
Up! Up! Up!
As of today, September 1st, cooking gas prices, electricity tariffs and expressway tolls increase in Thailand.
The rate for electricity will rise by seven Satang per unit.
Depending on vehicle size, tolls for expressways will increase by 5-10 Baht,
The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) will rise 50 Satang per kilogramme every month from 18.13 Baht/kg now, until it reaches 24.82 Baht/kg in September 2014.
To ease the impact of the price hikes on low-income earners, Thailand's Energy Ministry says households across the country which use 90 units of electricity or less each month, as well as those without access to electricity can purchase cooking LPG at the old price of 18.13 Baht/kg.
Moreover, street food vendors and small-scale vendors using 15kg gas cylinders and with vending areas of 50 sq m or less will also be allowed to buy 150kg of LPG per month at the old price.

At least 25% of Pattaya's Drinking Water dispensers deliver contaminated water
Dirty drinking water-vending machines
Pattaya's Public Health Office Director Suphaphorn Cherdchaiphum claims that almost 25 percent of Pattaya's approximately 1'000 water-vending machines were found to have unacceptable levels of Coliform bacteria. The levels of conatmination reach up to a 56 percent concentration. The tests also found substandard quantities of hard metals.
Coliform bacteria, including the potentially deadly e.Coli, are bacteria that are found in the soil and in human or animal waste.
Thailand's Public Health Ministry introduced strong regulations for water machines in June 2011. Nevertheless, our lovely Pattaya City Council did not adopt the national rules until today, despite random tests showed widespread drinking water contamination.
Contamination occurs mainly because operators of the machines still do not understand the maintenance processes.
The biggest problem is that owners of drinking machine are not maintaining or changing filters. They not even clean the machines.
The popular water-vending machines produce reverse osmosis water (R.O. water). The R.O. water purification method involves forcing water through a semi-permeable membrane, which filters out a select number of water contaminants, depending on the size of the contaminants. A good R.O. system can remove contaminants such as arsenic, nitrates, sodium, copper and lead, some organic chemicals, and the municipal additive fluoride.
Many people believe that reverse osmosis water is the best drinking water. Nevertheless, health disadvantages outweigh the advantages:
1. The water is demineralized. Since most mineral particles (including sodium, calcium, magnesium, and iron) are larger than water molecules, they are removed by the semi-permeable membrane of the R.O. system.
Even though you may find some contradictory information online about the health benefits of reverse osmosis water, drinking de-mineralized water is not healthy.
The World Health Organization conducted a study that revealed some of the health risks associated with drinking demineralized water. Just a few of the risks include gastrointestinal problems, bone density issues, joint conditions, and cardiovascular disease.
Removing the naturally occurring minerals also leaves the water tasteless. Many people thus have to add liquid minerals to their R.O. water to improve the taste.
2. The Osmosis drinking water is acidic. One of the primary reasons R.O. water is unhealthy is because removing the minerals makes the water acidic (often well below 7.0 pH). Drinking acidic water will not help maintain a healthy pH balance in the blood, which should be slightly alkaline.
In the natural health and medical communities, acidosis in the body is considered an underlying cause of most degenerative diseases. In fact, in 1931, Dr. Otto Warburg won the Nobel Prize for discovering the cause of cancer. In essence, he said it was caused by a lack of cellular oxygenation due to acidosis in the body.
Medical research has also determined that drinking acidic water (as well as other acidic beverages) will often cause a leaching of essential minerals, such as calcium and magnesium, from the body, especially from the bones and teeth, in order to neutralize the acidity.
3. Some critical contaminants are not removed. While reverse osmosis is effective for removing a variety of contaminants in water, it does NOT remove volatile organic chemical (VOCs), chlorine and chloramines, pharmaceuticals, and a host of other synthetic chemicals found in municipal water.
Drinking Water sold in Thailand's shops, restaurants and bars is reverse osmosis treated water.
There are only a few locally mineral water brands available in the Kingdom:
Mineré, Aura, Mont Fleur, Muangnong Mineral Water, AQUARe Natural Spring Mineral Water and BigC Mineral Water.

Loma Roundabout
As a regular reader of this column you already know that North Pattaya's well-known Loma Roundabout was modified by Pattaya's City Hall. They closed the connection between Naklua and North Road.
The question is now: Is the roundabout still a roundabout - or not, and what are the consequences?
We asked a policeman. He didn't know who has the right of way on Loma's new street layout. City Hall itself removed the instruction they placed at the entry to the (former) roundabout.
A nearby Taxi driver told us: It depends who is involved in an accident. If it's a Farang he will be convicted in every single case...
Don't touch Thailand's Drug Kings
During the last few weeks Thailand's Police arrested a lot of drug users and drug distributors and confiscated illegal drugs worth of millions of Baht.
Police also found drug-producing machines, pickup trucks transporting the drugs and piles of arms and ammunition.
According the Police all be part of a network of drug gangs active in many provinces in our lovely country.
The arrests are the result of many months of hard work of the related investigation units.
Pol Lt Gen Nares Nanthachote, chief of Provincial Police Region 1 said that the gangs have a lot of money and weapons at their disposal.
So it is all the more incomprehensible that after all the Police got the small gangsters only.
Nobody at our Police seems to ask where are the master minds?
The big players are not touched. They remain still in the dark.
Patronized by Thailand's Police, Thailand's Military and Bangkok's Elite?
Same same, but still very different!
On September 3rd, 2012, Vorayuth Yoovidhy, the grandson of Red Bull energy drink founder Chaleo Yoovidhya, was driving his Ferrari on Bangkok's Sukhumvit Soi 47 at high speed and hit Pol Snr Sgt Maj Wichian Klanprasert's motorcycle. The policeman's body was dragged about 200 metres along the road.
Mr. Vorayuth allegedly fled the scene and was arrested several hours later at his home on Sukhumvit Soi 53.
On August 26th, 2013, Thailand's Public Prosecutors postponed for the fifth time the indictment of Red Bull heir Vorayuth Yoovidhya, explaining that the suspect was unwell and the investigation incomplete.
Mr. Vorayuth's lawyers lodged a request with prosecutors asking for an adjournment of his client's indictment to September 2nd at 10:00, saying Mr. Vorayuth was sick. He submitted Mr. Vorayuth's medical certificate along with his request.
On September 2nd, Vorayuth Yoovidhy didn't show off.
The statute of limitations for the speeding charge against Mr. Vorayuth expired on Sept 3, 2013.
It was Vorayuth Yoovidhy's sixth no-show since facing charges in connection with the hit-and-run on Sept 3 last year.
On August 29th the 28-year old suspect, nicknamed Boss, left Thailand unmolested for a business trip to Singapore, said his lawyer. He was unable to travel back to hear the charges against him.
He showed reporters a medical certificate issued by a Singapore clinic on Sunday that said Vorayuth was unwell and was advised to rest for one or two days.
Vorayuth Yoovidhya has no intention or cause to flee but he really can't be here today because he became suddenly ill, the defence lawyer said...
Nevertheless, Vorayuth Yoovidhya still faces charges of causing death by reckless driving and not stopping to help, which carry a maximum sentence of 10 years. Pol Col Samrit Ketyaem, an investigator at Thong Lor police station, said they expected to issue an arrest warrant by September 3rd and would then forward a copy of the warrant to the Immigration Police. Once the arrest warrant is out, the police would then be able to arrange to have the suspect extradited to Thailand.
Any ordinary suspect would have been indicted long ago, human rights lawyer Warin Thiamjaras said. I believe this suspect intends to jump bail. He won't mind if the bail surety is confiscated, even if it costs him 20 million baht, as it really is nothing to a person as wealthy as him. We cannot blame anyone for the way things are other than those senior officials who fail to maintain justice. It's an act of systematic double standards, he added.
Vorayuth Yoovidhy's family was ranked fourth richest in Thailand this year by Forbes magazine with a net worth of $US7.8 billion. The family also co-owns the sole authorised importer of Ferrari cars in Thailand.
Because Vorayuth Yoovidhy is a rich man's child Thailand's Police still are not taking any action and allowed the wealthy man's son take a flight to watch an F1 race in Singapore and return to Thailand as if nothing has happened, claims Chuwit Kamolvisit, the leader of the Rak Thailand Party.

Superstition is reigning Thailand
The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) held a major merit-making ceremony on September 14th, 2013.
The SRT's executives are hoping it will help prevent more accidents on its trouble-plagued lines.
'I believe Thailand has survived several bad incidents because of divine protection, the ceremony will help restore the morale of staff members following the high number of accidents', SRT governor Prapat Chongsanguan said.
All over Thailand the State Railway of Thailand recorded a total of 115 derailments this year (as of September 16th).
Because some superstitious critics claim that the spate of accidents are the result of damage to a 48-year-old painting at the SRT's headquarters, the SRT is looking for a restorer to repair the artwork.
After the Thai Airways International (THAI) landing mishap at Suvarnabhumi airport on September 8th, 2013, an Airports of Thailand (AoT) source said some airport fire brigade and emergency response personnel claimed to have seen a woman in traditional Thai Airways dress shuffling into and out of their office, causing crackling in their radio transmissions...
AoT said Suvarnabhumi has seven spirit houses at the airport to ward off ill fortune.
Blame the ghosts for your misfortunes, but never your missing skills and your stupidity!
Never forget:
It's not your Face and not your Body that makes you sexy.
It's your MONEY!
Dilma Rousseff
Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff postponed her official visit to Washington in protest at the spying activities of the US National Security Agency (NSA).
The NSA was (or still is) intercepting emails and messages from Ms Rousseff, her aides and Brazil's state oil company, Petrobras.
Be aware of the NSA
The National Security Agency has built a network that can access as much as 75% of all U.S. Web traffic. With the help of Great Britain's Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), they control whole of Europe too.
Stupid US Intelligence
During the late 2001 the Bush administration, powered by the US Intelligence agencies, prepared the military intervention in Iraq.
The Intelligence claimed that Irak was developing and using weapons of mass destruction, including (bio-) chemical weapons.
They never found any.
Stupid US Agriculture
The US Department of Agriculture stipulates the "eyes" in "grade-A Swiss" may be no larger than 13/16 of an inch in diameter.
Obviously these graduated idiots don't know that cheese is a natural product and can't be manipulated like plastics.
The size of the bubbles are a good indication of a cheese's maturity.
For your education: American Cheese isn't cheese at all - it not even tastes like cheese!
Bogus claim
Avoid Low Fat and/or Non Fat Yoghurts!
The average low-fat fruit yogurt contains 17.9g of sugar in every 100g or 22.4g of sugar per pot.
As you already know, your body transfers excessive amounts of sugar into bodyfat.
Therefore:
Low Fat and Non Fat Yoghurts can be the source of your overweight - as well as almost all other Low Fat or Non Fat products. Avoid them!

Nvidia to launch own-brand Tegra Note tablet
Nvidia's Tegra Note is featuring Nvidia's Tegra 4 processor with a 72-core GeForce GPU, a quad-core Cortex-A15 CPU and a fifth battery-saver core.
Nvidia's new tablet is selling for US$199. The tablet comes with a stylus-based input technology and will run an Android OS.
Customers don't buy Touch Panel Notebooks!
Shipments of touch-screen panels for notebook PCs fell 4.9% in Q2 2013.
It's the first time the notebook's shipments have declined since Q2 2002. It's a lesson for Microsoft: Customers like to have a reliable operating system without gimmicks.
Apple fingerprint ID already HACKED!
Just a day after Apple launched its iPhone 5s Touch ID fingerprint recognition system Germany's Chaos Computer Club claims it "successfully bypassed the biometric security of Apple's Touch ID using easy everyday means".
Be aware, there is absolutely no security using smartphones, tablets or simple mobile phones.
The end of XP
Microsoft will end the technical support of its best Operating System, known as Windows XP, in April 2014.
Let's say good bye to Microsoft too?
Out of the Battle?
Our Source tells us that Samsung Electronics has cut its notebook component orders for September to about half of its original forecast.
Samsung originally expected its 2013 notebook shipments to grow 15-20% to get one of the World's largest notebook manufacturers.
It seems the company missed the target. Samsung has to accept that it can't be #1 in all categories...
Marketing Gimmick
ARM, Apple and Samsung announced that their latest chips and phones will benefit of a 64-bit architecture.
It's nothing than a marketing gimmick: The main benefit of a 64-bit architecture is in being able to surpass the 32-bit limit of 4GB of RAM, but in a smartphone that carries a penalty because the RAM has to be powered - consuming battery life..
Apple's new iPhone 5s only has 1GB of RAM and Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 only 3GB, the most ever seen in a phone.
64-bit chips can in theory perform more detailed floating-point calculations because they have larger registers for storing numbers - essential to represent non-integer numbers in binary. Such calculations are needed in graphics and other tasks involving analogue data.
Users live in apps, not in an operating system, and even apps that are optimized for 64-bit won't see that much of a performance bump.
You get cheated - again.
Micronia
On September 3rd, 2013, Microsoft announced it will buy Nokia's handset business in a deal valued at €5.44 billion (US$7.2 billion).
The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2014 subject to Nokia shareholder approval, regulatory approval, and other closing condition.
Heating Up
Since the tablet competition is gradually moving toward the entry-level segment, brand vendors are aggressively trying to gain market shares in the US$170 - 200 tablet segment, pushing them to offer more discounts to attract consumers.
