The End of
Global Warming?
Pattaya is experiencing extremely cold weather with temperatures of 24º and below.
Usually March, April and May are Pattays's months with the highest temperatures of the year.
Weathermen are already predicting the first snow in the resort for April 1st.
As with the Nuclear Crisis, experts do not have any logical explanations for the new Glacial period.

On the way...
Sexy A Go-Go on Soi 7 will reopen in a few days.
Its face-lifting lasted several weeks longer than anticipated.
If its girls are as beautiful as its new entry, the club will write a new and big success story.

The Cavern A Go-Go
The Cavern closed
On Saturday, March 26th at about 18:00, a blaze closed The Cavern A Go-Go on Walking Street.
A short circuit triggered the blaze.
The management relocated the ladies to the Beach Club on Soi 15.
On March 30th the club reopened after refitting the bar.

Thriving Bacteriums
Thailand's Ministry of Public Health has issued an official warning against consuming uncooked food during this summer, as food can be easily spoiled due to rising temperatures in summer, and bacteria thrive better during this season, and can cause food poisoning.

Do you know?
The number of prisoners in Thailand outstrips the capacity of jails by 70%.
Nevertheless, Pattaya's Police is searching for new potential inmates every single day...

Hot Tuna Dancers?
closed
Hot Tuna Pool Club on Walking Street closed.
According to our information it will reopen as a Go-Go Club.
And the latest photo from the building site seems to support the information:
The construction workers are already preparing the daises for the future dancers.

Amazing Thailand
Thailand is monitoring food delivery from Japan and it is said that nothing with radioactive contaminants will be allowed to reach the Kingdom.
However a sauce popular with Thais is freely available: Pla Ra. The sauce contains a trematode parasite called Opisthorchis viverrini. It gets inside your body, swims through to the gall bladder region where it reproduces and sucks your blood. The constant irritation leads to abdominal pain, the blood loss to anemia and even a special cancer of the gall bladder called a cholangiocarcinoma.
Thailand's 'highly skilled' health officials seem to ignore home made health risks...

Lucifer's Pizza?
Lucifer's Pizza?
The new venue next to Luzifer's Disco Club on Pattaya's Walking Street will not be a pizzeria as announced by NightWalker, but a new snack bar called Istanbul Palace.
The stone oven will be used to prepare Pide, Lahmacun (the Turkish version of a pizza) and a lot of other specialities from Turkey.
Lucifer told Pattaya-at-Night his hell is hot enough. 'I don't need an additional oven', he said...

Where is Tony's Pizza?
Where is Tony's Pizza?
Tony's Snack bar at the entry to Tony's Disco and the new Abbyzz Club has gone. The managers also relocated the orchestra from the right to the left side of the entrance.

Pattaya Mayor warns
Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Khunpluem
Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Khunpluem warned Pattaya Beach Jet Ski Operators of scamming tourists. 'I have enough', he told them. 'I know your game and your cards have been marked' the Mayor warned the unethical boat operators.
With the help of officers from the Pattaya Police Station and the Pattaya Tourist Police jet ski operators extort as much as 300'000 Baht a week from hectored tourists for non-existent damage to rented boats.

Blown away
On Wednesday night, March 16th, many fishing boats and longtail boats were blown away and sunk by strong winds.
Pattaya's Meteorological Department says that during the next few days the Eastern Part of Thailand will receive scattered thunder storms and high winds.
Therefore: Do not go outside the bay during the next few days.

Busy Officials
On Friday Night, March 11th, Banglamung District Licensing Officials visited 11 pubs all over Pattaya suspected of being unlicensed and operating outside of designated entertainment zones. The owners and managers were detained.
The venues were all ordered to be closed pending the investigation. It was the second raid of the same bars within the last few weeks. They all reopened after the first raid...
On Saturday Night, March 12th, Pattaya Police raided the Differ and Hollywood discos. 120 police officers entered the venues and requested ID's from every visitor.
Police also searched for weapons, underaged visitors, drugs and administered urine tests.
Tourists who failed to produce ID cards were fined 200 Baht each.
Visitors tested positive for drugs were taken to Banglamung Hospital for backup tests.
On Wednesday Night, March 16th 2011, over 100 Policemen checked Bars and Nightclubs in North, Central and South Pattaya as well as on Walking Street.
Among many other venues, Insomnia and Mixx Discotheques on Walking Street and the Star Dice Club on Naklua Road had to welcome Pattaya's narks and identity card examiners.
The Provincial Governor has ordered these (regular) checks.
If you don't want to support these officials financially you always have to carry your ID card (Thais) or your passport (foreigners) with you.
On March 22nd Pattaya Police collected beauties on Pattaya's famous Catwalk, the Beach Promenade, to increase its earnings.

The End of Pattaya's Baby Boom?
Baby Boom A Go-Go, off Soi Buakhaow, was closed on Monday, March 7th 2011 and didn't re-open the following days.
On March 9th, shortly after midnight, the bilboard was on again, but no activities in the club. Not even the tout(s) were there.
Last night the former tout was replaced by a slate...

Successful Change
ZAB Café
The ZAB Café, a bar and Restaurant at the entry to Walking Street, repaired its neon sign and changed its format from rather mediocre Elvis and Tina Turner interpretation to mostly happy Thai music.
The reorientation seems to work. The visitors come back, are happy and are dancing. The interactivity between the audience and the musicians is good.
The ZAB Café is now some kind of Bamboo Bar, but with Thai music and satisfied customers.

Closed - and reopened
On March 3rd 2011 First A Go-Go on Soi 8 and Moulin Rouge on Walking Street were closed, but both venues reopened a day later.

Investigation
The British Health Protection Agency (HPA) says it is currently investigating if there are any potential risks of infection associated with the commercial use of fish spa pedicures.
Alongside with Health Protection Scotland and the Health and Safety Laboratory, the HPA will examine the most up to date evidence of any possible risks associated with Garra Rufa fish pedicures and will publish guidelines.
Tiny Garra Rufa fish are a type of toothless carp that nibble on the dead skin.
In the US some states have banned the use of Garra Rufa fish over health and safety concerns of having the same fish clean the skin of multiple customers.
Pattaya-at-Night already warned customers of using Fish Spas in our January 2010 News Flash.

Stop Nuclear Power Projects forever!
Tourists want a Nuclear Power free Thailand.
Think about
Sooner or later nuclear energy will destroy your life.
Small amounts of radiation from Japan's leaking nuclear power plant have spread across Asia, authorities said Tuesday (March 29th, 2011).
The governments of China, South Korea, the Philippines and Vietnam reported that radiation had drifted over their territories, although they emphasised the levels currently (March 30th, 2011) are so small that there is no health risk...

Environmentalists and villagers from Trat, Chumphon, Nakhon Sawan, Surat Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, Khon Kaen, Kalasin and Prachuap Khiri Khan have formed an alliance called the Network of People Against Nuclear Power Plants to protest against the planned construction of nuclear power plants in their provinces.
Thailand's Government announced to halt plans to build nuclear power plants in Thailand.
Update: Energy Minister Medical Doctor Wannarat Channukul confirmed that Thailand has not yet scrapped the feasibility study of constructing hundreds of 1'000-megawatt nuclear power plants across the country. But the project will not be raised to the attention of the cabinet very soon, the unconvincable Minister told the press. It is known that Nuclear Plants not only generate electricity and uncontrollable waste, but also a huge amount of Tea-Money.

Koh Samui Flooded!
Thousands of tourists were stranded on Koh Samui as ferry services to and from Samui have been cancelled since Monday March 28th, 2011. Thai Airways as well as Bangkok Airways have cancelled all flights to the island.
Heavy rain and associated flooding across Southern Thailand disrupting transport, tourism and day-to-day business. All train services to the South of Thailand have been suspended because of the heavy flooding.
Authorities in Koh Samui started evacuating people to temples on high ground after heavy rains caused flash floods that destroyed roads and disrupted communications.
Koh Samui faces floodings almost every year, but this flood is the worst the island has experienced this decade, Koh Samui's mayor said.

Rebranding started
From Carrefour to BigC
Good Bye Carrefour - Welcome BigC

On March 15th 2011 BigC started the rebranding of its Carrefour Supermarkets in Bankok. BigC opened the first 'new' shop on March 21st at Suwinthawong. BigC will transform the remaining 33 Carrefour branches into BigC as quickly as possible, the company said. Its employees at the stores will be transferred to BigC.
Imported goods at some branches will not change, we were told, but we scare to have to miss Carrefour branded chocolates, its Emmentaler Cheese (a very tasty french product) as well as its Carrefour Grana Padano (a grating cheese far superior to the awful rival from Kraft).
The rebranding will cost about 350 million baht for signage changes only, not including the marketing budget to rebrand the company's image.

Climax A Go-Go
The recently reopened Sakura Club 69 A Go-Go on Soi 15, off Walking Street, got a rebranding too.

Save Water - Drink Beer and avoid Coffee & Milk!
A British scientist, Professor John Anthony Allan of King's College London, was awarded a prize from a water conservation group for a formula which calculates the amount of water used in the production of all sorts of things.
The Professor's formula shows that a single 125 ml cup of coffee needs 140 litres of water and a 250 ml glas of milk 200 litres.
Producing and drinking Beer is comparatively economical: 250 ml beer is consuming 75 litres of water only.

Save Water - Drink Beer
Shoes and clothes are among the largest wasters of water: A simple Cotton T-shirt is wasting 2'000 litres and a pair of Leather Shoes 8'000 litres of water.
Pattaya-at-Night and its contributers are therefore urging all governments to ban the production, the selling and the use of shoes and clothes all over the world.
If nobody is wearing shoes and clothes we not only can save a lot of water, we don't need A Go-Go and Striptease Clubs anymore, we even can mull a lot of stupid regulations (and the paper they are printed on) as well as some of our corrupt police officials.

Pattaya-at-Night likes 'Experts'. They usually speak before they start thinking. Water isn't lost. It circulates in a hydrological cycle.

Flower Power during April 2011
The Honorable Pattaya Culture Council released the slogan for this year's Songkran Festival:
Pattaya looks Fresh with Flower Shirts!
The council promotes a unique floral shirt for people to wear during the whole month of April.
A nice idea. Nevertheless, is it appropriate to ask if somebody in the council has a connection to a certain clothmaker?
We just learned that our NightWalker is wearing a shirt with the motif pictured above.
Is he the one with the probably lucrative connection?

Consumers to finance Thailand's upcoming election campaign?
Thailand is one of the largest producers of palm oil in the world, but the cooking oil shelves at almost all shops are empty. A shortage of cooking oil...
Refiners, distributors and retailers are accused of hoarding the oil. Moreover it is said that politicians are allegedly facilitating the shortage in exchange for funds they will need for the upcoming election.
But Thailand's Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has found no irregularities in palm oil stocks...
Therefore the main question remains unanswered: Where all the oil has gone?

Vote buying requires at least 5-10 million Baht, the deputy chief of the centre of investigation under the Metropolitan Police Bureau says.
Therefore killing politicians during the lead-up to an election is a common tactic to eliminate opponents.
It's an inexpensive investment, hiring a gunman costs between 100'000 and 300'000 Baht only, the police chief said after the first eliminations of opponents already occured.
