If you have ever walked along Pattaya's Roads then you will surely have been stopped by some people carrying clipboards asking you to fill out a 'survey'.
Of course the survey is a sham, and they are actually after contact details so that high pressure salesmen can ring your hotel and try to sell you timeshare holiday homes.

Mysterious Bali Hai Entertainment Complex
On the third floor of the Bali Hai Entertainment Complex the Mixx Discotheque is located, which is, according to Asia's best D.J., Pattaya's best dancing.
On the second floor of the building is Caramel, a Strip Hall and Restaurant. It opened this month for 2 nights only and without the announced European Ladies. Since then you can spot construction workers almost every day on the 2nd floor.
The first floor should be the home of the LimaLima Club and a coyotee club called First Class. But the floor is a construction site since more than a year and with an ever changing layout. Nevertheless, Fist Class already runs advertisements in some of Pattaya's free publications and the LimaLima Club announces a concert with Bob Sinclair on December 28th at the first floor of Bali Hai with banners on Walking Street and on its website.

New Threats for Pattaya's Tourism Industry
Russia is redirecting its tourists to other countries.
After Thailand's decision to extradite alleged Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout to the USA, Russia adviced its tourist agencies to redirect their parta of tourists to other countries in the region, mainly Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.
A few organisations 'supervising' Russian tourists here in Pattaya already reacted and reduced their good paid Thai staff or are on the way to close down their offices completely.
Russians are known as 'big spender' in restaurants and shops here in Pattaya and Thailand as a whole.
The Iranian Iceberg.
The influx of Iranian tourists poses a risk for Thailand too. Iran is known as the biggest illicit drugs exporting country into Thailand. The drug is known as 'ice' and is available in both crystallised and liquefied forms. Drugs police this year have already arrested 75 Iranians carrying a total of 164kg of the illicit drug. But that's only the tip of the iceberg. Iranians are 'white washing' some money from this lucrative drug trade right here in Thailand and, perhaps, in Pattaya.
Thailand's Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NSB) says most drug smugglers arrested at Suvarnabhumi airport are from Iran. Iranian nationals travelling to Bangkok appear at the top of drug police watch lists.
Crystal meth, or ice, is the second most popular illicit drug in Thailand and is sold mainly in Bangkok and Pattaya., but Amphetamine is still Thailand's most popular illicit drug. Thailand's Government just announced a new 'war on drugs'.
Update: On December 28th Pattaya Police arrested an 40-year old Iranian tourist and his 24-year old Thai girlfriend in their apartment in South Pattaya. They were charged with possession of a class 1 drug with intent to sell.

Deadly Thai Army
Thai special forces killed at least 3 people in a temple
Leaked state documents shows that the Thai military played a larger role in the killing of civilians during political unrest in Bangkok this year than officials have acknowledged.
Thai special forces positioned on an elevated railway track fired into the grounds of Wat Prathumwanaram, where several thousand protesters had taken refuge on May 19th 2010.
At least three of six people shot dead at the temple were likely killed by troops, the investigation found.
The Thai army always denied soldiers were responsible for the killings at the temple and Thailand's Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva is still reluctant to accept that security forces could have played a role in killing civilians during the street clashes in April and May...

Workers in Phrae, Phichit, Sukhothai, Udon Thani, Yala, Chanthaburi, Kanchanaburi, Lop Buri, Ranong and Chon Buri (Pattaya) wiil get a 12 Baht increase.
Workers in Surat Thani, Chumphon, Trang, Ratchaburi, Phangnga, Chachoengsao and Prachin Buri will get 13 Baht more.
Workers in Phatthalung, Satun and Krabi will get a 14 Baht rise.
Workers in Nakhon Si Thammarat and Songkhla will get an extra 15 Baht each working day.
And last but not least, workers in Phuket will get 17 (!) Baht more, the highest increase. Phuket's Labourers will get a daily minimum wage of 221 Baht.
According to Thailand's National Wage Committee about 2 million Thai workers and 2 million foreign workers will benefit from the wage rise. It is estimated that 14.69 billion Baht in extra money will be circulating in Thailand's economy.
Workers in ST & LT businesses do not benefit from the committee's wage rise. Their tariffs are a cut above Thailand's minimum wages.
The new wages will be effective as of January 1st, 2011.
Used abbreviations: ST = Short-time, LT = Long-time, a cut above = 5 times (or more).

Levi's & Wrangler Jeans for 250 - 350 Baht!
Since many months boothes at almost all major shopping centers here in Pattaya are selling Levi's and Wrangler branded jeans.
It is not clear if these jeans are originals, substandard or second hand goods, or simply fake products.
But according to my lady, regular readers of this page already know that she knows everything a little better than ordinary people, all this products are low-grade copies of the originals.
If that is true, the distributor of this goods must have very good connection with the police. Pattaya's Police is known for taking every opportunity to confiscate fake products and to clean-up Pattaya from all products violating Thailand's powerful copyright laws...
New Bar Zoning Regulations
Entertainment Venues
on Walking Street can stay open until 03:00!
Just a few days after Bangkok's apparently jobless Royal Thai Police tried to enforce a 02:00 closure of Pattaya's Walking Street bars, City Hall introduced new bar zoning regulations around Pattaya on Thursday, November 25th 2010.
Venues in selected areas in South Pattaya, including Walking Street, can stay open until 03:00, outside of the main zone, bars are permitted to open until 02:00. Thailand's national laws requiring entertainment venues to close at 02:00.
Provincial Police from Chonburi along with Pattaya Police will enforce the new regulations.
With the possibility of an application being made to the Interior Ministry for 24 hour licenses in the near future it is essential venues comply with the current regulations, an official said.
According to Mayor Itthiphol Khunpluem Pattaya is a special administrative zone and a hub for the country's tourism industry. Closing down the town during the nights hurts the city's reputation and the income of its business owners.
Nevertheless, instead of cleaning up the capital from its 'cigarette police', the Nigerian & the Airport Maffia and Thailand's unscrupulous politicians Bangkok's Royal Thai Police is showing its unscrupulous power in Pattaya with nightly raids in Soi Buakhaow, North Pattaya and Naklua.

Unbelievable Thailand
Not a Christmas Story!
Abortion is illegal in Thailand unless the mother's health is in danger or she has been the victim of rape and/or incest.
According to Nattaya Boonpakdee, coordinator of the Women's Health Advocacy Foundation, a legal (?) and safe abortion is provided by state hospitals only.
Women who have abortions face a jail term of up to three years and a fine of up to 6'000 baht.
Those who carry out an abortion, even with the consent of pregnant women, are liable to up to five years in jail and a fine of up to 10'000 baht. The punishment increases to up to seven years in jail and a fine of up to 14'000 baht if the abortion seriously injures pregnant women.
When the auhorities found 2'002 aborted foetuses at Wat Phai Ngern Chotanaram (temple) on November 16th, the officials acted fast and ordered the closure of all abortion clinics, but a senior police officer denied there were any such clinics in the district.
Nevertheless, within a single day health officials were able to identify 3'900 (!) clinics which they believe are performing abortions. Why was no action taken against these clinics previously to support the law and what these officials did with the list(s) of these clinics? Collecting money for their livelihood?
According to Health Service Support Department chief Somchai Pinyopornpanit many clinics had closed their doors after the mass foetus discovery. They try to avoid prosecution. Some clinics displayed signs saying they were closed temporarily. Dr Somchai confirmed that his agency is lacking the manpower to inspect more than 4'000 medical clinics in Bangkok and 10'000 more in the provinces..., but Public Health Minister Jurin Laksanavisit said the government would intensify the crackdown on abortion clinics across the country. The minister also told the press that some family planning, beauty care and cosmetic surgery clinics and drug rehabilitation centres operated as a front for abortion facilities.
Many Buddhists believe abortions can generate a bad karma for the participants.
Therefore the monks at Wat Sriboonruang in Soi Ramkhamhaeng 107 in Bang Kapi district organised a ceremony of mourning for the souls. Everything needed for the ritual will be provided at the temple and participants have to pay 300 Baht for that, a man who works at the temple told the press.
Normally, religious rituals at temples are free of charge. Attendees would donate money as they wished.
When is a Thai Massage Parlour a Bordel?
When is a Body Massage Parlour a Bordel?
A few weeks ago I met a few Expats at an eatery. When I arrived they were in the middle of a discussion about a recent police raid on Soi Buakhaow.
Police from Chon-Buri Immigration together with the Anti-Human Trafficking Division Police raided a small but well-known parlour in the area and arrested the owner of the business for providing illegal prostitution services on the premises.
The venue in question announced its services as traditional Thai massages and enjoy Thai massage.
As you know, all kind of prostitution is illegal in this amazing country, not only if its done in a hidden-place, but also if its announced in big letters.
Everybody knows what happens at location announcing Body Massage and what you will get for the 1'000 to 2'000 Baht (or more) you have to pay at these establishments, but no single present Expat could understand why venues advertising their services without any peekaboo don't get the visit of the police...
Some expats assumed that Pattaya's Police don't know to read and just are waiting until a worried citizen gives a phone call, but one Farang, apparently living here for more than 20 years, had a logical explanation for that phenomenon. At least it was accepted by all other expats:
'If you open your Body Massage with an official speaker like Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Khunpluem, as it happened a few month ago with Rasputin Body Massage on Pattaya 2nd Road - a large parlour with more than 100 rooms, divided into different levels from regular rooms to VIP suites - then your business is legal. Otherwise not!' the well informed Farang said and nobody contradicted.
Rasputin Body Massage
At home, I remembered a case that doesn't support the Farang's conclusion:
Some times ago the Mixx Disco at the Bali Hai Entertainment Complex got the visit of a bunch of policemen just a day after the club had its big party with Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Khunpluem.
Therefore the discussion can start again, or - perhaps - not:
Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Khunpluem is still with us, that police chief not.
And a disco here in Pattaya isn't the same as a massage parlour - in the eyes of the police - but we all know it better, or - perhaps - not.
The cheating Pizza Company
The cheating Pizza Company

On the advertisement it's announced for 79 Baht - but the bill asks 109 Baht! No refund!
This casket of rice, ham, mushrooms and a cream sauce is announced on your table at The Pizza Company's outlets for 79 Baht. But after the order, the invoice tells you that the food costs 109 Baht.
The employers at the Tesco/Lotus Branch at North Road can't explain the discrepancy with their (suddenly ?) missing english skills. I had to pay the invoice generated by the computer...
As usual, my lady had a simple explanation for the problem:
The Pizza Company belongs to Mister Dhanin Chearavanont, the owner of CP Group of companys, and he is a main supporter of the Yellow Shirts.
You can't trust any yellow shirts, she said. They all are cheating you!
And her daugther tells me:
It's the same with their Pizza's. They claim to sell Italian style Pizzas, but the 'pizzas' taste like donuts!
The cheating happened on November 21st 2010 (Loy Kratong Festival Day), at about 15:30, at its branch at Tesco/Lotus North Pattaya Rd.

Traffic signs or road signs are signs erected at the side of roads to provide information to road users. They should be based on the United Nations Organisation Protocol. Most civilized contries are using it. But Pattaya's 'highly educated' officials ignore all standards to show the world their own stupidity.
Update #1: This page was just 2 (two) days online, when the second sign was removed...
Update #2: Since December 4th the removed sign is back and is partly covering the first one, but all drivers are ignoring the information, even if traffic police is controlling the lights.
This is Pattaya.
Pattaya is creating its very own trafic signs
Mayor Itthiphol Khunpluem:
Pattaya is a special administrative zone...
Pattaya: One way sign
Pattaya's One Way Sign on Walking Street: Wrong colors! Red means prohibited, even in Thailand.

Thailand's official One Way Sign looks like this:
Thailand: One way sign
International One Way Signs:
International: One way sign   International: One way sign
International: One way sign

Just another example of stupidity created by Pattaya's highly skilled workforce...
Experts are talking Rubbish!
On December 13th BBC World broadcasted HardTalk with a woman host interviewing Roger Martin from Optimum Population Trust.
Mister Martin not only called publication from other experts about population control 'absolute rubbish', he and his interviewer not even noted that Roger's theory of 2 childrens per family is absolute rubbish too.
If a woman or a man divorces and marries again, Mr. Martin's population control doesn't work any more.
The only population control that would work is a one child per person policy with special regulations for Gays, LadyBoys and stupid Experts...

Pattaya's Mayor says
Itthiphol Khunpluem, the Mayor of Pattaya
Itthiphol Khunpluem, the Mayor of Pattaya, made clear he was on the side of business owners and agreed with their assertions that 70 percent of their business comes during late nights in the high season. The city is very concerned with maintaining a good image for fun-seeking tourists, the lovely Mayor added.
During Itthiphol's election campaign he promised to clean up Pattaya's red light districts and to transfer the city into a family resort. Apparently times have changed his mind...
If he ever had one.
Bye Bye Democracy

Global Warming...
... at its Best!
Temperature in Europe and parts of Canada and the USA are reaching historic and century low levels.
Airports had to close and rail travel was disrupted too. Roads in a number of countries were described as treacherous.
Never believe in experts. If they talk about 'Global Warming' they tell rubbish only.
Global warming is a myth and big business but not a reality!
The world faces a climate change - as during the last millions of years.

After WikiLeaks disclosures diplomats and politicians all over the world explain why they need their negotiations secret.
They are completely wrong.
As all other officials in a government they get paid from our money. They have to work for our well-being. There is no space for any secrets. We taxpayers have every right to know what these people do.
We have the obligation to control their work.
